Background: In recent times, there has been acknowledgment of the prevalence of frailty and pre-frailty among individuals with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Comprehensive Rheumatologic Assessment of Frailty (CRAF) stands out as a dependable tool grounded in synthesis and clinical judgment. Despite this, a validated Vietnamese rendition of the CRAF is currently unavailable.

Introduction: Laparoscopic spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy (LSPDP) with conservation of the splenic artery and vein (Kimura' technique) is considered a technically challenging procedure that requires a high level of expertise in laparoscopic and pancreatic surgery.
Methods: A prospective descriptive study on 18 patients with laparoscopic "antegrade" spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy with Kimura' technique from 2018 to 2023. The perioperative indications, clinical data, intraoperative index, pathological postoperative specimens, postoperative complications, and follow-up results were retrospectively evaluated.

Chemoimmunotherapy is an effective therapy for an individual with nonsmall-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) without anaplastic lymphoma kinase or epidermal growth factor receptor mutations. However, it can also be related to adverse cutaneous reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) with high morbidities and mortality rates. We present a case of a 65-year-old male with NSCLC who underwent first-line chemotherapy with paclitaxel, carboplatin, and pembrolizumab, which was later followed by a second cycle of the same therapies.

Background: Absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) is a crucial indicator of immunity in critical illness, but studies focusing on long-term outcomes in critically ill patients, particularly surgical patients, are still lacking. We sought to explore the association between week-one ALC and long-term mortality in critically ill surgical patients.
Methods: We used the 2015-2020 critical care database of Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TCVGH), a referral hospital in central Taiwan, and the primary outcome was one-year all-cause mortality.

Background: SMA-first approach in pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) has been widely applied in open surgery as well as laparoscopy. Finding the superior mesenteric artery (SMA), inferior pancreatoduodenal artery (IPDA), first jejunal artery (J1A) has become a great challenge in laparoscopic PD (LPD). Meanwhile, exposing the midde colic artery (MCA) might be a feasible approach to determine SMA, IPDA, and J1A.

Background: AneurysmFlow (Phillips Healthcare) is the flow measurement tool, utilizing an optical flow-based algorithm from DSA, lacks sufficient published studies. This study aimed to assess the significance of flow velocity changes and the Mean Aneurysm Flow Amplitude (MAFA) ratio in evaluating outcomes following flow-diverting treatments.
Methods: Between June 2021 and October 2022, 41 patients with 42 aneurysms underwent FDS treatment with AneurysmFlow measu-rement at the Bach Mai Radiology Center.

Aim: To determine the prevalence of dry eye (DE) and some related factors in patients with type 2 diabetic nephropathy (T2DN).
Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study on 338 people, who were divided into 2 groups: 169 T2DN patients and 169 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetic mellitus (T2DM) without renal complications as a control group. The Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) and test fluorescein tear-film break-up time (TBUT) were done in all 338 subjects.
Background: Afatinib is indicated for advanced-stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) and uncommon mutations. However, real-world studies on this topic are limited. This study aimed to evaluate afatinib as first-line therapy for locally advanced and metastatic NSCLC with uncommon EGFR mutations.

Background: Optimal timing for initiating maintenance dialysis in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) stages 3-5 is challenging. This study aimed to develop and validate a machine learning (ML) model for early personalised prediction of maintenance dialysis initiation within 1-year and 3-year timeframes among patients with CKD stages 3-5.
Methods: Retrospective electronic health record data from the Taipei Medical University clinical research database were used.

Ruptured aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage associated with multiple basilar trunk aneurysms represents a rare clinical condition. Endovascular intervention stands as the preferred therapeutic approach. We present the case of a 35-year-old patient with subarachnoid hemorrhage and three consecutive basilar trunk aneurysms.

Aim: To determine the dry eye (DE) rate and its relationship with disease stage in patients with primary hypertension.
Methods: A cross-sectional study included 432 patients with primary hypertension (with an equal number of patients in each group: 144 in stage I, II, and III hypertension) and 144 healthy subjects as a control group. The Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) and Schirmer I test without anesthetics were conducted on all 576 subjects.

Accurately predicting tumor T-cell antigen (TTCA) sequences is a crucial task in the development of cancer vaccines and immunotherapies. TTCAs derived from tumor cells, are presented to immune cells (T cells) through major histocompatibility complex (MHC), via the recognition of specific portions of their structure known as epitopes. More specifically, MHC class I introduces TTCAs to T-cell receptors (TCR) which are located on the surface of CD8+ T cells.

Background: Accurate diagnosis and subsequent delineated treatment planning require the experience of clinicians in the handling of their case numbers. However, applying deep learning in image processing is useful in creating tools that promise faster high-quality diagnoses, but the accuracy and precision of 3-D image processing from 2-D data may be limited by factors such as superposition of organs, distortion and magnification, and detection of new pathologies. The purpose of this research is to use radiomics and deep learning to develop a tool for lung cancer diagnosis.

Objective: This study aimed to assess the association of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) with the occurrence of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and arterial thrombosis (AT).
Methods: This was a retrospective cross-sectional study including 585 medical records obtained from all consecutive patients who were suspected of having thrombosis.
Results: The AT group had a higher neutrophil count and NLR and a lower lymphocyte count than the non-thrombosis group.

This case report details a novel technique implemented in Vietnam. When full equipment is unavailable, we adapt it by using aortic balloon occlusion to enhance the patient's hemodynamics and mitigate the risk of intraprocedural exsanguination. This approach effectively addresses the rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysms in patients with unstable hemodynamic conditions.

Basal ganglia germinomas (BGGs) are rare lesions. Because of the atypical features of early-stage clinical symptoms and imaging characteristics, BGGs are easily misdiagnosed with non-tumorous conditions. This article presented cases of 2 young male patients who came to the hospital due to right arm weakness.
