Characteristic of 24-Hour Blood Pressure Dipping Patterns in Hypertensive Stroke Patients.

Objective: We conducted a study titled for Investigation on the characteristics of 24-hour blood pressure (BP) dipping patterns in hypertensive stroke patients.

Methods: Descriptive research, analysis, and comparison, the research was conducted from July 2019 to September 2020 at the Vietnam Heart Institute - Bach Mai Hospital. There are 100 patients diagnosed with idiopathic hypertension who were divided into two groups (without stroke complications and another group with chronic stroke complications > 6 weeks), both groups were similar in age (45-64 years old).

Laparoscopic total pancreatectomy with total mesopancreas dissection using counterclockwise technique and tail-first approach.

Laparoscopic total pancreatectomy (LTP) is technically challenging and infrequently documented in the literature. In this paper, we present a new approach for performing fully LTP, a pancreatic tail-first approach with a counterclockwise technique, to accomplish total mesopancreas dissection and standard lymphadenectomy en bloc. Firstly, the tail and body of the pancreas without the spleen were dissected retrogradely, starting from the lower border of the body of pancreas and then from left to right.

Clinical characteristics and outcomes of critically ill COVID-19 patients with CAUTI: a study in Vietnam.

Introduction: Urethral catheterization is commonly required in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients hospitalized in intensive care units (ICUs). However, this increases their vulnerability to nosocomial infections such as catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Existing studies on nosocomial infections in COVID-19 patients usually report CAUTI prevalence but neglect the clinical differences between CAUTI and non-CAUTI patients.

Background: Afatinib, a second-generation epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) tyrosine kinase, has proven effective for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with EGFR mutations through randomized controlled trials and real-world studies. Elderly patients exhibit unique characteristics in terms of physical condition and comorbidities, leading to differences in clinical practice for selecting the initial dosage and making dose adjustments compared to younger patients. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and adverse effects of first-line Afatinib treatment in elderly patients with NSCLC harboring EGFR mutations in Vietnam in a real-world context.

Colocolic intussusception causing by a large lipoma of the ascending colon: A rare case report.

It is known to induce cardiovascular remodeling, which can result in a variety of complications, including a considerable increase in aortic stiffness. Cervical Spinal Epidural Hematoma After Spinal Anesthesia for Cesarean Section in the Parturient Using Long-Term Low Dose Aspirin.

Spinal epidural hematoma (SEDH) is a rare but serious complication associated with spinal anesthesia (SA). We present an unusual case of cervical SEDH occurring 24 h after a lumbar puncture for a cesarean section. The patient, who was on low-dose aspirin due to preeclampsia, initially exhibited neurological symptoms resembling a stroke.

Efficacy of High Flow Nasal Cannula in the Treatment of Patients with COVID-19 with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome: Results of Single Centre Study in Vietnam.

Introduction: Most hospitalized patients required invasive or non-invasive ventilation and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC). Therefore, this study was conducted to describe the characteristics of patients with severe Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) treated by HFNC and its effectiveness for reducing the rate of intubated-mechanical ventilation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Phu Chanh COVID-19 Department-Binh Duong General Hospital.

Methods: It was a cross-sectional and descriptive study.

Laparoscopic and thoracoscopic whole-stomach esophagectomy with preoperative pyloric balloon dilatation for esophageal cancer: a prospective multicenter case-series outcome.

Introduction: To mitigate gastroparesis as well as other post-operative complications, we undertook a prospective multicenter study to assess the feasibility, safety, and efficacy in the short-term outcomes of laparoscopic and thoracoscopic whole stomach esophagectomy with preoperative pyloric balloon dilatation.

Methods: A prospective descriptive study on 37 patients with laparoscopic and thoracoscopic whole stomach esophagectomy with preoperative pyloric balloon dilatation from January 2019 to March 2023. The perioperative indications, clinical data, intra-operative index, pathological postoperative specimens, postoperative complications, and follow-up results were retrospectively evaluated.

Background: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of excessive and premature mortality in patients with bipolar disorder (BD). Aim: To determine the mortality rate and the predictive value of the prognostic nutritional index (PNI) for all-cause mortality during the 24 months in patients with stage IV colorectal cancer treated with capecitabine.

Methods: We conducted a study on 87 stage IV colorectal cancer patients treated with capecitabine. Before the day of treatment, all patients were measured CEA and CRP-hs levels and calculated neutrophil/lympho ratio (NLR) and PNI.

Three-Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging Characteristics of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: A Comparison with Several Echocardiography Parameters.

Background: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a primary cardiac disorder characterized by myocardial hypertrophy without increased afterload. This study set out to describe the cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging characteristics of HCM and to evaluate correlations of selected CMR parameters with echocardiography.

Methods: This cross-sectional study enrolled 46 patients diagnosed at the Vietnam Heart Institute with HCM and underwent CMR at the Radiology Center, Bach Mai Hospital, from July 2021 to September 2022.

Introduction: The permanent pacemaker implantation has a history of more than 60 years with improved mortality and quality of life but also recorded many complications.

Objectives: The objective is to evaluate the rate of early complications at the National Heart Institute of Vietnam and the factors associated with the early complication of the permanent pacemaker implantation procedure.

Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive is about 294 patients who received permanent pacemaker implantation at the National Heart Institute of Vietnam from 01/08/2020 to 30/30/2020.

Investigation of the Prevalence and Clinical Characteristics of Early Complication of Electrode Dislodgement in Patients has Indications for Permanent Pacemaker Implantation.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence and reopen the drive procedure of early complications of electrode dislodgement in patients with an indication for permanent pacemaker implantation at the Vietnam National Heart Institute.

Methods: This is a study on patients who received permanent pacemaker implantation at the Vietnam National Heart Institute during the period from August 1, 2019 to March 30, 2020.

Results: In all cases with complications of electrode dislodgement after implantation indicated to reopen the machine to handle complications, the results of handling complications are safe and stable.
