Prognostic factors and outcomes of adjuvant and first-line metastatic treatments in melanoma a Turkish oncology group study.

Management of melanoma has changed significantly with the discovery of targeted therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). Our aim in the study is to determine which treatment alternatives, specifically dabrafenib plus trametinib and ICIs, are effective in adjuvant therapy and which treatment is effective as first-line metastatic therapy. This retrospective, multicenter study included 120 patients diagnosed with stage IIIB-IIID melanoma receiving both adjuvant and first-line metastatic treatment between 2007 and 2023.

The relationship between steroid treatment and mortality in patients with COVID-19 followed up in an intensive care unit.

Aim: Optimal treatment of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is still unclear. It has been reported that the use of different doses of corticosteroid treatments may reduce mortality. In our study, we aimed to find the effect of corticosteroid treatment dose on mortality of patients followed up in intensive care due to COVID-19.

Exploring the relationship between proactive personality, individual innovation, and mental health in university students.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to determine the effects of proactive personality and individual innovation characteristics of university students on their mental health together with their socio-demographic characteristics.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among students of Yozgat Bozok University in 2022. Data was collected using a sociodemographic information form, Individual Innovation Scale (IIS), Proactive Personality Scale (PPS), and the Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale (DASS-21).

Optical imaging and gene transfection potential of linear polyethylenimine-coated AgS near-infrared quantum dots.

Background/aim: The application of biocompatible heavy metal-free and cationic AgS NIR quantum dots (QDs), which have intense luminosity in the 700-900 nm medical range, as a nonviral gene delivery system paves the way to overcome autofluorescence and easily track the delivery of genes in real time.

Materials And Methods: The newly developed small and colloidally stable 2-mercaptopropionic acid (MPA)-capped AgS aqueous quantum dots electrostatically complexed with linear polyethyleneimine (AgS@2MPA/LPEI) were investigated for the first time both as a strong fluorescent probe and as a vector for nonviral gene delivery for the highest tracking of the system and delivery of genes into the nuclei of different cancer cells. The synthesized AgS@2MPA/LPEI quantum dots demonstrated strong optical imaging properties and were used to deliver a green fluorescent protein (GFP) plasmid as a standard gene.

Healthcare professionals' knowledge and perceptions of post-stroke rehabilitation in the peripandemic period: an online cross-sectional survey.

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly affected healthcare systems, particularly post-stroke rehabilitation centers. The elevated severity of strokes and delayed hospital admissions caused numerous hurdles to rehabilitation administration during the peri-pandemic period. This study surveyed healthcare professionals' knowledge and perceptions of post-stroke rehabilitation during this period.

C1 Root Decompression as a Therapeutic Target in Non-Suboccipital Non-Valsalva Related Headache Associated with Chiari I Malformation.

Background: Headache (HA) is the most common symptom impacting the quality of life of patients with Chiari I malformation. While HAs typically present in the occipital or suboccipital regions, and induced by Valsalva maneuver, complex migraine-like HAs referring to frontal or orbital regions also occur. Our study explores the therapeutic potential of C1 nerve root decompression in addition to increasing intracranial compliance in patients with Chiari I malformation.

Bioequivalence study of low dose drospirenone/ethinyl estradiol 3 mg/0.03 mg film tablets under fasting conditions in Turkish healthy female subjects.

This bioequivalence research aims to evaluate the relative bioavailability and pharmacokinetic characteristics of ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone in the test preparation in comparison to the reference preparation during fasting conditions. A liquid chromatography method with tandem mass spectrometry was used to determine the concentrations of drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol in plasma. The pharmacokinetic parameters that were analyzed were the maximum plasma concentration (C), time to achieve C (t), elimination half life, and area under the concentration time curve of plasma (AUC, AUC for ethinyl estradiol, and AUC for drospirenone).

This study aimed to distinguish pituitary metastases from pituitary neuroendocrine tumors on the basis of conventional MR imaging and clinical features as a practical approach.

Materials And Methods: In this 2-center retrospective study, backward from January 2024, preoperative pituitary MR imaging examinations of 22 pituitary metastases and 74 pituitary neuroendocrine tumors were analyzed.

Are depression and poor sleep quality a major problem in Turkish Women receiving chemotherapy for breast cancer?

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate depression and sleep quality in Turkish women receiving neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy for breast cancer and investigate their relationship.

Methods: This cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytical study included 183 patients who received chemotherapy for non-metastatic breast cancer. Data were collected using the Beck Depression Inventory-II, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and a disease-related/sociodemographic information form.
