Around one-quarter of all patients undergoing cardiac procedures, particularly those on cardiopulmonary bypass, develop cardiac surgery-associated acute kidney injury (CSA-AKI). This complication increases the risk of several serious morbidities and of mortality, representing a significant burden for both patients and the healthcare system. Patients with diminished kidney function before surgery, such as those with chronic kidney disease, are at heightened risk of developing CSA-AKI and have poorer outcomes than patients without preexisting kidney injury who develop CSA-AKI.

Background: Anterolateral ligament reconstruction (ALLR) or lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) has been used more frequently in conjunction with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) in recent years. However, there are still concerns that these procedures may lead to complications such as overconstraint of the lateral compartment, stiffness, infections, tunnel convergence, and other intra- and postoperative complications because of increased surgical time and the need for additional procedures.
Hypothesis/purpose: The lateral extra-articular procedure will reduce the failure rate of reconstructed ACLs without increasing the number of complications.

Antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) remains a major complication after solid organ transplantation (SOT). Current treatment options are inefficient and result in drastic impairment of the general immunity. To selectively eliminate responsible alloreactive B cells characterized by anti-donor-HLA B-cell receptors (BCRs), we generated T cells overcoming rejection by antibodies (CORA-Ts) engineered with a novel chimeric receptor comprising a truncated donor-HLA molecule as antigen recognition domain.

VTRNA2-1 is a polymorphically imprinted locus. The proportion of individuals with a maternally imprinted VTRNA2-1 locus is consistently approximately 75% in populations of European origin, with the remaining circa 25% having a non-methylated VTRNA2-1 locus. Recently, VTRNA2-1 hypermethylation at birth was suggested to be a precursor of paediatric acute lymphoblastic leukaemia with biomarker potential.

Sarcoid-like reaction is an immunological reaction that can affect lymph nodes and organs but does not meet the diagnostic criteria for systemic sarcoidosis. Anti-CD20 auto-antibodies have been reported to be responsible for such reactions. There are several reported associations between Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Sarcoid-like reactions (SLR).

Whether the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K are associated with development of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) after allogeneic stem cell transplantation, is unclear. We assessed if the levels of these vitamins were associated with development of GvHD during the first year after transplantation using data from a two-armed randomized nutritional intervention trial. Changes in plasma levels during 1-year follow-up were analyzed using a linear mixed model for repeated measurements.
