Unlabelled: The oral consumption of collagen hydrolysates derived from various animal tissues has been demonstrated to have beneficial effects on skin health, particularly in combating the signs of aging. Here in this study, a novel animal-derived FS-Collagen hydrolysates were developed and its effects against skin aging was analyzed in a new mice skin aging model established through a combination of UV irradiation and d-galactose induction. 8 Weeks of oral FS-Collagen administration demonstrated significant protective effects against skin aging in mice, evidenced by the preservation of the skin's macroscopic appearance, the restoration of skin composition and structure, an enhancement in antioxidant capacity and the inhibition of inflammation.

Background: Metabolic-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is one of the most prevalent liver diseases worldwide, with a global prevalence estimated between 3% and 5%, posing a significant health burden. Human liver organoids (HLOs) have previously been generated to model steatohepatitis, offering a potential cellular disease model for studying MASH. However, the current HLO model lacks detailed molecular characterizations and requires further improvement.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of European bilberry extract (EBE) on the accumulation of N-carboxymethyllysine (CML) and N-carboxyethyllysine (CEL) in rats exposed to a high advanced glycation end products (AGEs) diet. We found that EBE reduced high AGEs diet-induced accumulation of free-CML, bound-CML, free-CEL, and bound-CEL in the serum, kidney, skin, and brain. EBE also inhibited high AGEs diet-induced accumulation of bound-CML and bound-CEL in the uterus, ovary, stomach, duodenum, and colon.

The relationship between dietary flavonoid intake and mortality in the diabetic kidney disease (DKD) population is unknown. So this study is aimed at investigating the association of total dietary flavonoid intake and their subclasses with all-cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality. Data of this cohort study were extracted from the NHANES (2007-2010 and 2017-2018).

Background: Growing evidence emphasizes the importance of xanthophyll carotenoids and omega-3 fatty acids in eye health. However, the beneficial effects of such supplementation have not been thoroughly discussed among adults with high screen exposure. Current trial evidence on lutein bioavailability is contradictory, and the interactions of dietary intervention with host-related factors remain elusive.

Mineral are intimately related to human health and disease, and detection of mineral content in the body is of great significance for the diagnosis and prevention of diseases. In this study, we validated the method developed to detect magnesium (Mg), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), and selenium (Se) levels in dried blood spots (DBS). In accordance with the requirements of the guidelines for the Bioanalytical Method Validation Guidance for Industry, we evaluate the linearity, sensitivity, precision, accuracy and selectivity of the developed methods.

The effectiveness of probiotic products hinges on the viability and precise quantification of probiotic strains. This study addresses this crucial requirement by developing and validating a precise propidium monoazide combination with quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PMA-qPCR) method for quantifying viable in probiotic formulations. Initially, species-specific primers were meticulously designed based on core genes from the whole-genome sequence (WGS) of , and they underwent rigorous validation against 462 WGSs, 25 target strains, and 37 non-target strains across various taxonomic levels, ensuring extensive inclusivity and exclusivity.

Background: Despite centuries of traditional use of silymarin for hepatoprotection, current randomized controlled trial (RCT) studies on the effectiveness of silymarin in managing metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) are limited and inconclusive, particularly when it is administered alone. The low bioavailability of silymarin highlights the possible influence of gut microbiota on the effectiveness of silymarin; however, no human studies have investigated this aspect.
Objective: To determine the potential efficacy of silymarin in improving MASLD indicators and to investigate the underlying mechanisms related to gut microbiota.
Milk thistle is one of the most popular ingredients in the liver protection products market. Silymarin is the main component of milk thistle and contains multiple isomers. There have been few studies focusing on the compositional ratios of silymarin isomers.

To investigate the morphological changes of insoluble fiber and their effects on microbiota modulation, particularly Bacteroides, rice bran insoluble fibers were extruded at different feed moisture levels (E20, E40, and E60). The physicochemical properties and SEM revealed that E20 exhibited the highest water holding capacity and displayed the most fragmented edges. E40 had the highest swelling holding capacity and displayed the most lamellar gaps.

Cancer is a complex disease composing systemic alterations in multiple scales. In this study, we develop the Tumor Multi-Omics pre-trained Network (TMO-Net) that integrates multi-omics pan-cancer datasets for model pre-training, facilitating cross-omics interactions and enabling joint representation learning and incomplete omics inference. This model enhances multi-omics sample representation and empowers various downstream oncology tasks with incomplete multi-omics datasets.

Silymarin, salvianolic acids B, and puerarin were considered healthy food agents with tremendous potential to ameliorate non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, the mechanisms by which they interact with gut microbiota to exert benefits are largely unknown. After 8 weeks of NAFLD modeling, C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into five groups and fed a normal diet, high-fat diet (HFD), or HFD supplemented with a medium or high dose of Silybum marianum extract contained silymarin or polyherbal extract contained silymarin, salvianolic acids B, and puerarin for 16 weeks, respectively.

Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) are vital milk carbohydrates that help promote the microbiota-dependent growth and immunity of infants. Sialic acid (SA) is a crucial component of sialylated milk oligosaccharides (S-MOs); however, the effects of SA supplementation in lactating mothers on S-MO biosynthesis and their breastfed infants are unknown. Probiotic intervention during pregnancy or lactation demonstrates promise for modulating the milk glycobiome.
