Introduction: Cardiac fibres are affected invariably in myocardial infarction, with longitudinal strain being the earliest to be detected in the ischaemic cascade. The present study aims to assess strain imaging in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients admitted to the cardiology department at our institute and correlate GLS and DESL findings with other markers for myocardial function.

Background: The objectives of this study were to find out of normal reference value for age-dependent longitudinal strain values in children and find its correlation with conventional echocardiographic parameters.

Methods: In total, 100 healthy normal children aged between 2 and 15 years were enrolled and divided into three age groups, namely, 2-5 years, 5-10 years, and 10-15 years. Using the GE Vivid 7 ultrasound platform with 4 or 7 MHz probes, both LV and RV global longitudinal strains and conventional echocardiographic parameters were acquired.

The radial artery route is being increasingly used by interventional cardiologists as a default access site for both diagnostic and interventional coronary procedures, and although rare, serious complications can occur. We herein report a potentially catastrophic complication of radial percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in the form of a large mediastinal and retro-left-atrial hematoma from possible subclavian artery injury with tracheal compression and stridor in a 60-year-old female presenting with anteroseptal myocardial infarction having undergone PCI of the left anterior descending artery through right radial access and then planned for a second stage PCI of the right coronary artery. The patient was managed conservatively with close hemodynamic and echocardiographic monitoring, inotrope support, and blood transfusions.

The novel Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has set the fatality rates ablaze across the world. So, to combat this disease, we have designed a multi-epitope vaccine from various proteins of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) with an immuno-informatics approach, validated in silico to be stable, non-allergic and antigenic. The surgical management of d-transposition of great arteries (d-TGAs) with ventricular septal defect (VSD) and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO) is ever evolving and still remains a challenge because of wide anatomic variability, age of presentation, surgical options available, and their variable long-term results in different series. We describe a patient with d-TGA, VSD, and LVOTO who presented to us at 13 years of age and underwent an arterial switch operation along with neoaortic valve replacement with a mechanical prosthesis. The postoperative course was uneventful, and at hospital discharge, the echocardiogram was satisfactory.

Extensive damage of the myocardium following an acute myocardial infarction usually causes cardiogenic shock.
