We present a case report of a 2-year-old boy who presented to a local hospital to evaluate vague abdominal symptoms of one-month duration. Background: The valgus cut angle (VCA) of the distal femur in Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) is measured preoperatively on three-joint alignment radiographs. The anatomical axis of the femur can be described as the anatomical axis of the full length of the femur or as the anatomical axis of the distal half of the femur, which may result in different angles in some cases. During TKA, the anatomical axis of the femur is determined by intramedullary femoral guides, which may follow the distal half or near full anatomical axis, based on the length of the femoral guide.

Repair of the dura after cranial neurosurgery can present a technical challenge and, for certain neurosurgical procedures, is critical to prevent cerebrospinal fluid leak and associated wound complications. Multiple options exist for dural repair, including the patient's own tissues, bovine collagen-derived commercially available grafts, as well as newer, entirely synthetic graft materials. This is the first report of surgical experience with a new synthetic and absorbable dura substitute which has recently gained Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval.

End-stage ischemic cardiomyopathy patients are an ever-increasing group of coronary artery disease patients, often with no options in our current treatment armamentarium. Angiogenesis therapy pre-clinical and phase I clinical trials showed great promise, however, the benefits of single growth factor treatments have not been borne out in the larger phase II randomized trials. The complexity of angiogenesis process and the challenges in creating animal models to replicate and study this process in ischemic adult human myocardium have been major limitations to progress in this field.

Effective local delivery to the heart remains an obstacle to successful therapeutic application of a number of drugs and biological agents. This study was designed to study and optimize the delivery characteristics of transendocardial intramyocardial (IM) administration, determine myocardial deposition and retention over time, and compare it to transepicardial IM injection. Thirty-nine pigs were used for the study (15 for catheter optimization, 15 for transendocardial IM delivery, and 9 for transepicardial IM delivery).
