Because only a small number of biomaterials and tissue engineering innovations have been translated into the clinic today, we hypothesized that this lack of translation is rooted in the psychology of surgeons and BS&orTE.

Purpose: Analysis of clinical and diagnostic findings in rare urogenital and perineal vascular malformations only occurring in 2-3 % of vascular anomalies with regard to clinical symptoms and treatment decisions.
Materials And Methods: All 25 out of 537 patients presenting with congenital urogenital and perineal vascular malformations at our institution from 2014 to 2021 were included. Vascular anomaly classification, anatomical location, clinical symptoms at presentation, diagnostic imaging, and pain intensity were retrospectively assessed from the patient record and therapy management was evaluated.

Background: The optimal timing of surgical therapy for traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) remains unclear. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of "ultra-early" (<4 h) versus "early" (4-24 h) time from injury to surgery in terms of the likelihood of neurologic recovery.
Methods: The effect of surgery on neurological recovery was investigated by comparing the assessed initial and final values of the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) Impairment Scale (AIS).

Methods: A total of 100 patients were included in this prospective, randomized, controlled monocentre study allocated to the three subgroups of dislocated ankle fracture (n = 40), pilon fracture (n = 20), and intra-articular calcaneal fracture (n = 40).

Severe traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) results in a devastating and permanent loss of function, and is currently an incurable condition. It is generally accepted that future intervention strategies will require combinational approaches, including bioengineered scaffolds, to support axon growth across tissue scarring and cystic cavitation. Previously, we demonstrated that implantation of a microporous type-I collagen scaffold into an experimental model of SCI was capable of supporting functional recovery in the absence of extensive implant-host neural tissue integration.
