This review provides an in-depth analysis of the molecular mechanisms by which β-glucans activate receptor-mediated signalling pathways, focusing particularly on the LC3-associated phagocytosis (LAP) and autophagy pathways. Hence, we explore how β-glucan receptor engagement stimulates NADPH oxidase 2 (NOX-2), leading to the intracellular production of significant level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) essential for both conventional autophagy and LAP.

Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a highly effective topical fluoride for halting dental caries; however, it darkens both teeth and restorations. Therefore, it is of interest to assess the shear bond strength (SBS) of glass ionomer cement (GIC) to caries-affected dentin treated with SDF alone and SDF followed by KI. Forty primary molar samples were prepared to reveal a flat dentin surface and were randomly assigned to two groups.

Mineral Trioxide Aggregate as an Apexogenesis Agent for Complicated Crown Fractures in Young Permanent Incisor.

Traumatic dental injuries are extremely common in children, and trauma to developing permanent teeth can disrupt root maturation; vital pulp therapy is an appropriate treatment for these teeth. This case report describes a 9-year-old boy who suffered dental trauma while playing football, resulting in an enamel-dentin fracture with pulp exposure in the left central incisor with an open apex (Cvek's stage 3) and an enamel-dentin fracture in the right central incisor with an open apex (Cvek's stage 3). Apexogenesis with mineral trioxide aggregate was performed to preserve the neurovascular bundle, allowing normal radicular formation in the left central incisor.

Unusual presentation of non-inflamed glandular odontogenic cyst presenting with cholesterol clefts.

Glandular odontogenic cysts (GOCs) are relatively rare among odontogenic cysts but are widely discussed owing to their multifaceted nature. We present a case of a women in her late 30s with a large radiolucency of right posterior ramus area and an associated impacted third molar. Histopathology confirmed GOC; although it presented with unusual presence of cholesterol clefts in absence of inflammation.

Quality of Hypertension Management in Type 2 Diabetes in India: A Multisite Prescription Audit.

Background And Objective: Renin-angiotensin system (RAS) blockers (angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors ACEI, angiotensin receptor blockers, ARB) are preferred drugs to control hypertension among diabetic patients. To determine frequency of RAS blocker use in hypertensive patients with type 2 diabetes, we performed a multisite study in India.

Methods: We evaluated physician prescriptions in consecutive patients with type 2 diabetes at 9 sites in India.

Purpose: To estimate the incidence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in elderly edentulous patients (aged 60-65 years) and investigate a correlation of serum serotonin levels with the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), respiratory effort-related arousal (RERA), and respiratory disturbance index (RDI).

Materials And Methods: 381 elderly completely edentulous patients (307 male, 74 female) aged 60 to 65 years with a history of edentulism of 12 to 15 months, seeking oral rehabilitation at the prosthodontic clinic at Saraswati Dental College & Hospital, Lucknow, India, between January 2014 and January 2016 were enrolled for the present study. After application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria of this study, 183 patients (162 male, 21 female) who were found susceptible, were subjected to the BERLIN questionnaire and Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) to assess sleep disordered breathing (SDB) and then put through all-night polysomnography (PSG).

Methods: We performed a multisite (n=9) registry-based study among internists (n=3), diabetologists (n=3), and endocrinologists (n=3) across India to determine prescriptions of statins in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Silicone vs temporalis fascia interposition in TMJ ankylosis: A comparison.

Objective: Temporomandibular joint ankylosis (TMJa) is a distressing condition, but can be surgically managed by gap or interpositional arthroplasty, with an aim to restore joint function and prevent re-ankylosis. The aim of this paper is to compare two interposition materials used in management of TMJ ankylosis.

Methods: 15 patients with TMJa were randomly allocated to two groups: group A (n = 6), interposition material used was medical-grade silicon elastomer, and group B (n = 9) where the interposition material used was temporalis fascia.

Purpose: This study was an attempt to verify the utility of complete dentures modified as a mandibular advancement device (MAD) in effecting expansion in pharyngeal volume to treat obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in edentulous patients.

Materials And Methods: The sample consisted of 17 patients (12 male, 5 female, average age 61 ± 4 years; BMI, 22 ± 5; apnea hypopnea index [AHI] 15 to 30). All patients had worn complete dentures for at least 1 year; all patients had the dentures modified to a MAD.

Dental Implant Placement using C-arm CT Real Time Imaging System: A Case Report.

C-arm computed tomography (CT) is a new and innovative imaging technique. In combination with two-dimensional fluoroscopic or radiographic imaging, information provided by three-dimensional C-arm real time imaging can be valuable for therapy planning, guidance and outcome assessment in dental implant placement. Comparative evaluation of shear bond strength of three resin based dual-cure core build-up materials: An In-vitro study.

Aim: The in-vitro study compared the shear bond strength (SBS) of three recently introduced dual-cure resin based core build-up materials namely ParaCore, FluoroCore, and MultiCore.

Materials And Methods: One hundred twenty extracted permanent human mandibular molar teeth were taken and sectioned horizontally beneath the dentinoenamel junction to expose the coronal dentin. The specimens obtained were divided into three main groups based on the materials used and then further divided into four sub-groups based on time interval with ten samples each.
