Objective: Patient positioning during clinical practice can be challenging, and mispositioning leads to a change in CT number. CT number fluctuation was assessed in single-energy (SE) EID, dual-energy (DE) EID, and deep silicon photon-counting detector (PCD) CT over water-equivalent diameter (WED) with different mispositions.
Methods: A phantom containing five clinically relevant inserts (Mercury Phantom, Gammex) was scanned on a clinical EID CT and a deep silicon PCD CT prototype at vertical positions of 0, 4, 8, and 12 cm.

Introduction: The use of medicinal plants in Algeria is an ancestral practice that remains relevant today. The population relies on plants to treat various diseases and everyday ailments, which can be dangerous, especially when taking medication [1,2]. The interaction between plants and medication can lead to a modification of the plasma concentrations of the latter, which can impact its therapeutic effectiveness and be responsible for toxicity or therapeutic failure [1,2].

The potential for mitigating intestinal inflammation through the gut-bone axis in the treatment of osteoporosis is significant. While various gut-derived postbiotics or bacterial metabolites have been created as dietary supplements to prevent or reverse bone loss, their efficacy and safety still need improvement. Herein, a colon-targeted drug delivery system is developed using surface engineering of polyvinyl butyrate nanoparticles by shellac resin to achieve sustained release of postbiotics butyric acid at the colorectal site.

Combination chemotherapy remains essential for clinical management of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Consequently, responses to multiple single agents cannot be delineated at the single patient level, even though some patients might not require all drugs in the combination. Herein, we conduct multi-omic analyses of orthotopic TNBC patient-derived xenografts (PDXs) treated with single agent carboplatin, docetaxel, or the combination.

Background: In the traditional computed tomography (CT) simulation process, patients need to undergo CT scans before and after injection of iodine-based contrast agent, resulting in a cumbersome workflow and additional imaging dose. Contrast-enhanced spectral CT can synthesize true contrast-enhanced (TCE) images and virtual noncontrast (VNC) images in a single scan without geometric misalignment. To improve work efficiency and reduce patients' imaging dose, we studied the feasibility of using VNC images for radiotherapy treatment planning, with true noncontrast (TNC) images as references and explored its dosimetric advantages compared to using TCE images.

Rare earth elements have been shown to trigger the B-to-Z DNA transition in diverse self-assembled branched DNA architectures. Herein, we investigated the influence of cerium chloride on the conformational changes of DNA sequences containing repeated cytosine-guanine (CG) or guanine-cytosine (GC) sequences. The CD results show that (CG) repeats were susceptible to the formation of Z-DNA at low concentrations of CeCl.

Cutaneous wound healing is a complex process involving various cellular and molecular interactions, resulting in the formation of a collagen-rich scar with imperfect function and morphology. Dermal fibroblasts are crucial to successful wound healing, migrating to the wound site where they are activated to provide extracellular matrix remodeling and wound closure. Peripheral nerves have been shown to play an important role in wound healing, with loss or damage to these nerves often leading to impaired healing and the formation of chronic nonhealing wounds.

This paper presents the synthesis of mixed metal oxide (BaTiO: ZnO) (B: Z) sensors with various molar ratios using a low-temperature hydrothermal method for dual sensing applications (gas and acceleration). The sensor developed with an equal molar ratio of 1B:1Z, showcases superior performance compared to unmixed and alternative mixed metal oxide sensors. This equilibrium in ratios optimally enhances synergistic effects between elements B and Z, resulting in improved sensing properties.
