Chikungunya and dengue are arboviral infections with overlapping clinical symptoms. A subset of chikungunya infection occurs also as co-infections with dengue, resulting in complications during diagnosis and patient management. The present study was undertaken to identify the global metabolome of patient sera infected with chikungunya as mono infections and with dengue as co-infections.

Burkholderia cepacia complex (Bcc) is a complex group of bacteria causing opportunistic infections in immunocompromised and cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. Herein, we report multilocus sequence typing and analysis of the 57 clinical isolates of Bcc collected over the period of seven years (2005-2012) from several hospitals across India. A total of 21 sequence types (ST) including two STs from cystic fibrosis patient's isolates and twelve novel STs were identified in the population reflecting the extent of genetic diversity.

Skin pigmentation is one of the most strikingly variable phenotypes in humans, therefore making cutaneous pigmentation disorders frequent symptoms manifesting in a multitude of forms. The most common among them include lentigines, postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, dark eye circles, and melasma. Variability of skin tones throughout the world is well-documented, some skin tones being reported as more susceptible to pigmentation disorders than others, especially in Asia and India.

Rosai-Dorfman disease (sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy, SHML) is a rare, non-hereditary, benign histiocytic proliferative disorder, presenting as painless bilateral cervical lymphadenopathy, with systemic symptoms. Extra nodal manifestations have been reported in 28-43 % cases with rare ocular involvement. We report a case of a 57 year old female presenting with gradual progressive decrease of vision OU since 8 months associated with epistaxis.

Infection is a potentially serious complication of epidural analgesia and with an increase in its use in wards there is a necessity to demonstrate its safety. We aimed to compare the incidence of colonization of epidural catheters retained for short duration (for 48 h) postoperative analgesia in postanesthesia care unit and wards. It was a prospective observational study done in a tertiary care teaching public hospital over a period of 2 years and included 400 patients with 200 each belonged to two groups PACU and ward.

We report on a rare case of connecting rod migration into the posterior cranial fossa after posterior cervical decompression and lateral mass screw fixation. A 55-year-old male patient who was operated on for ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament complained of sudden-onset giddiness followed by loss of consciousness one and half year following surgery. CT scan showed migration of left-sided connecting rod into the right cerebellum through foramen magnum.

Background: Van Wyk-Grumbach syndrome is a rare complication of prolonged untreated primary hypothyroidism characterized by precocious puberty and enlarged multicystic ovaries. High index of suspicion and timely diagnosis can prevent unnecessary surgical procedures because this condition can be reversed with thyroid hormone supplementation.
Case: A 12-year-old girl underwent abdominal ultrasonography for recurrent abdominal pain, which showed bilateral asymmetrical enlargement of ovaries.
