Objective: This study aimed to investigate the immediate and long-term outcomes of the Cox-Maze IV procedure in patients undergoing surgical treatment for multivalvular heart disease with atrial fibrillation. It also sought to identify predictors of atrial fibrillation recurrence in the long-term period.
Materials And Methods: We conducted an analysis of 92 patients who underwent multivalvular heart defect correction and simultaneous Cox-Maze IV procedure between 2017 and 2023.

The Banff classification is useful for diagnosing renal transplant rejection. However, it has limitations due to subjectivity and varying concordance in physicians' assessments. Artificial intelligence (AI) can help standardize research, increase objectivity and accurately quantify morphological characteristics, improving reproducibility in clinical practice.

The article presents comprehensive medical statistical analysis of indicators and causes of mortality of children population of the Russian Federation in 2017-2021. It is emphasized that in Russia, in conditions of extremely unfavorable demographic situation, the hyper actual task is to preserve life of every child. It is demonstrated that crucial role in mortality of children population is played by not only infant mortality and mortality of children aged 1-4 years, but also by mortality of children of older ages.

We studied spontaneous and ex vivo activated cytokine production by blood cells of male Wistar rats with different resistance to hypoxia against the background of an LPS-induced systemic inflammatory response. In rats with low (LR) and high resistance (HR) to hypoxia, the number of leukocytes, granulocytes, and peripheral blood lymphocytes was determined, the levels of spontaneous and stimulated production of IL-1β and IL-10 and their ratio were assessed ex vivo. Against the background of a systemic inflammatory response, only HR animals showed a decrease in spontaneous and stimulated production of IL-1β and spontaneous production of IL-10.

Renal cell carcinoma is a significant health burden worldwide, necessitating accurate and efficient diagnostic methods to guide treatment decisions. Traditional pathology practices have limitations, including interobserver variability and time-consuming evaluations. In recent years, digital pathology tools emerged as a promising solution to enhance the diagnosis and management of renal cancer.

The use of relevant, accessible, and easily reproducible preclinical models of diffuse gliomas is a prerequisite for the development of successful therapeutic approaches to their treatment. Here we studied the gene expression profile of 3D spheroids in a comparison with 2D cell cultures and tissue strains of diffuse high-grade gliomas. Using real time PCR, we evaluated the expression of Gfap, Cd44, Pten, S100b, Vegfa, Hif1a, Sox2, Melk, Gdnf, and Mgmt genes playing an important role in the progression of gliomas and regulating tumor cell proliferation, adhesion, invasion, plasticity, apoptosis, DNA repair, and recruitment of tumor-associated cells.

The analysis of the microvasculature and the assessment of angiogenesis have significant prognostic value in various diseases, including cancer. The search for invasion into the blood and lymphatic vessels and the assessment of angiogenesis are important aspects of oncological diagnosis. These features determine the prognosis and aggressiveness of the tumor.

In a long-term (8 months) study, we examined the degree of synchronization of ultradian body temperature oscillations of two isolated groups of mice kept under constant dim illumination. In most cases, the periods of increased activity accompanied by rapid elevation of body temperature coincided in these groups of mice, but in some days, no significant synchronization between the examined parameters was observed. Analysis of the effects of environmental factors on the degree of synchronization of ultradian rhythms in mice revealed association of this parameter with the dynamics of atmospheric pressure (AtmP) and to a lesser extent with the vertical component of interplanetary magnetic field Bz.

A 60-year-old male with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, conduction disorders, post-COVID-19 myopericarditis and heart failure was admitted to the hospital's cardiology department. Blood tests revealed an increase in CPK activity, troponin T elevation and high titers of anticardiac antibodies. Whole exome sequencing showed the presence of the pathogenic variant NM_213599:c.

The study monitored the long-term body temperature (BT) oscillations of C57BL/6 mice and outbred starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) to compare them with fluctuation in decay rate of radioactive natural K isotope. The spectrum analysis revealed simultaneous changes of the predominant periods in BT spectra of the animals and those in fluctuation in K decay rate. A positive correlation was established between BT dynamics and fluctuation in decay rate.

Background: Chordal apparatus preservation is important for preserving left ventricular (LV) function in the long-term perspective. We present results of originally modified chordal-sparing mitral valve replacement (MVR) successfully used in patients with mitral stenosis and mitral insufficiency.
Methods: The modified surgical method involves preserving only four strut chords with portions of the mitral valve leaflets, which are later fixed to the fibrous ring.
A case of a mature anterior mediastinal teratoma with a predominance of the pancreatic component (80% of the tumor) and signs of nesidioblastosis in a 46-year-old woman is presented. During histological examination, all components of the pancreatic parenchyma were determined - acini with interlobular and intralobular ducts, endocrine cells and islets of Langerhans of various sizes and shapes, as well as islet-duct complexes scattered in the acinar tissue. In addition to pancreatic tissue, cartilage, bronchial respiratory epithelium, small intestine tissue, hair follicles, and sebaceous glands were found in the neoplasm.

A 28 year-old male with restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) and endocardium thickening, conduction disorders, heart failure, and depressive disorder treated with paroxetine was admitted to the clinic. Blood tests revealed an increase in serum iron level, transferrin saturation percentage, and slightly elevated liver function tests. Sarcoidosis, storage diseases and Loeffler endocarditis were ruled out.

Objective: Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is a well-established technique for diagnosis of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) and evaluation of cardiac function, but the process is complicated and time consuming. Therefore, this paper proposes a cardiomyopathy recognition algorithm using a multi-task learning mechanism and a double-branch deep learning neural network.
Method: We implemented a double-branch neural network CMR-based HOCM recognition algorithm.

The paper describes 2 cases of immature ovarian teratoma with elements of nephroblastoma (ICD-0 code 9080/3) in patients aged 61 and 70 years. Microscopic examination revealed that both cases had blastemal cells with scant cytoplasm and basophil nuclei sticking together. Epidermal, glandular, rhabdomyoblastic, chondroid, bone, neuroectodermal, and histiocytic components were determined.
