[Transcatheter approach of concomitant mitral and tricuspid regurgitation].

Severe mitral regurgitation represents the second most common indication for valve surgery in Europe. In the last decade, transcatheter mitral valve repair has become an established effective and safe treatment option for patients at high or prohibitive operative risk. A relevant proportion of these patients develop significant tricuspid regurgitation.

Risk of thyroid as a first or second primary cancer. A population-based study in Italy, 1998-2012.

Background: The number of patients living after a cancer diagnosis is increasing, especially after thyroid cancer (TC). This study aims at evaluating both the risk of a second primary cancer (SPC) in TC patients and the risk of TC as a SPC.

Methods: We analyzed two population-based cohorts of individuals with TC or other neoplasms diagnosed between 1998 and 2012, in 28 Italian areas covered by population-based cancer registries.

Feasibility of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) in ischemic cardiomyopathy using 2D-multisegment LGE combined with artificial intelligence reconstruction deep learning noise reduction algorithm.

Background: Despite the low spatial resolution of 2D-multisegment late gadolinium enhancement (2D-MSLGE) sequences, it may be useful in uncooperative patients instead of standard 2D single segmented inversion recovery gradient echo late gadolinium enhancement sequences (2D-SSLGE). The aim of the study is to assess the feasibility and comparison of 2D-MSLGE reconstructed with artificial intelligence reconstruction deep learning noise reduction (NR) algorithm compared to standard 2D-SSLGE in consecutive patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM).

Methods: Fifty-seven patients with known ICM referred for a clinically indicated CMR were enrolled in this study.

Subjective experience of aberrant salience in young people at Ultra-High Risk (UHR) for psychosis: a cross-sectional study.

Purpose: Aberrant salience (AS) is conceptualized as a potential predisposing factor for psychotic states of mind. Despite several studies in the general population, research on AS in the early phases of psychosis is still relatively scarce. The aim of this cross-sectional study is (1) to evaluate the AS subjective experience in Ultra-High Risk (UHR) adolescents and young adults compared to help-seeking peers with First Episode Psychosis (FEP) and (2) to assess any significant association of baseline AS with psychopathology and functioning in UHR participants.

High renin hypertension in focal renal fibromuscular dysplasia: turn off of renin system angiotensin overactivation by renal angioplasty cured high blood pressure and quickly reversed myocardial hypertrophy.

Background Fibromuscolar dysplasia (FMD) is an idiopathic, non-atherosclerotic and non-inflammatory stenotic lesion of renal arteries causing renovascular hypertension up-regulating renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. Case report: A 18-year-old man was referred to our Hypertension Center (Clinica e Terapia Medica) for the recent onset of hypertension, poorly controlled on calcium channel blockers, already associated to electrocardiographic and echocardiography signs of left ventricular hypertrophy and significant albuminuria (728 mg/24 h). An increased plasma renin activity (PRA), aldosterone level and a mild hypokalemia raised the suspicion of renovascular hypertension.

Radiation dose reduction and static image quality assessment using a channelized hotelling observer on an angiography system upgraded with clarity IQ.

The goal of this paper was the comparison of radiation dose and imaging quality before and after the Clarity IQ technology installation in a Philips AlluraXper FD20/20 angiography system using a Channelized Hotelling Observer model (CHO). The core characteristics of the Allura Clarity IQ technology are its real-time noise reduction algorithms (NRT) combined with state-of-the-art hardware; this technology allows to implement acquisition protocols able to significantly reduce patient entrance dose. To measure the system performances in terms of image quality we used a contrast detail phantom in a clinical scatter condition.

Impairments in Social Cognition (SC) in First Episode Psychosis (FEP) were reported exclusively using neurocognitive tests. Aim of this study is (1) to assess subjective experience of SC in FEP adolescent and young adults compared to non-FEP help-seeking peers, (2) to investigate any significant association of SC with psychopathology and functioning in FEP individuals; and (3) to monitor longitudinally the stability of SC after a 2-year follow-up period.

Epidemiological data and treatment strategies in children with severe haemophilia in Italy.

Objectives: In a period of important therapeutic changes in the field of haemophilia care, we provide updated statistics on children with severe haemophilia (0-12 years of age) in Italy.

Methods: Data presented are from the Italian National Registry of Congenital Coagulopathies (NRCC) - survey 2017.

Results: Children with severe Haemophilia A (HA) were 242, those with severe haemophilia B (HB) 48.

Assessing aberrant salience in young community help-seekers with early psychosis: The approved Italian version of the Aberrant Salience Inventory.

Objectives: Aberrant salience (AS) has a crucial role in the onset of psychosis. The Aberrant Salience Inventory (ASI) is the only self-report instrument specifically developed for the assessment of AS. Aim of this study was to examine the reliability and the validity of the approved Italian version of the ASI in a clinical sample of young help-seekers.

[Reorganization of haemodialysis during COVID-19 emergency: a report from Dialysis Centers of Parma province].

The epidemic wave that hit Italy from February 21st, 2020, when the Italian National Institute of Health confirmed the first case of SARS‑CoV‑2 infection, led to a rapid and efficient reorganization of Dialysis Centers' activities, in order to contain large-scale spread of disease in this clinical setting. We herein report the experience of the Hemodialysis Unit of Parma University Hospital (Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria, Parma, Italy) and the Dialysis Centers of Parma territory, in the period from March 1st, 2020 to June 15, 2020. Among patients undergoing chronic haemodialysis, 37/283 (13%) had positive swabs for SARS‑CoV‑2, 9/37 (24%) died because of COVID-19.

Anterior chest wall non-traumatic diseases: a road map for the radiologist.

The anterior chest wall (AWC) non-traumatic pathologies are largely underestimated, and early detection through imaging is becoming increasingly important. This paper aims to review the major non-traumatic ACW pathologies, with a particular interest in imaging features and differential diagnosis.

Case report: successful endoscopic removal of a large rectal foreign body.

Incidence of emergency access due to retained large rectal foreign bodies is increased in the last years. Such situations are a challenge because often, due to their size and physical characteristics, the large foreign bodies of the rectum cannot be extracted manually or by endoscopy, thus requiring surgery, as reported in the literature. We report a case of a 59-old male with a retention of a large vegetable rectal foreign body (whole eggplant) successfully subjected to endoscopic removal without the need for surgery.

Subjective experience of social cognition in young people at Ultra-High Risk of psychosis: a 2-year longitudinal study.

Impairments in SC have been reported in people at Ultra-High Risk (UHR) of psychosis exclusively using neurocognitive tasks. The aims of this study are (1) to assess subjective experience of SC in adolescent and young adult community help-seekers identified through UHR criteria, (2) to explore significant associations of SC with psychopathology and functioning in UHR individuals; and (3) to monitor longitudinally the SC stability after a 2-year follow-up period. Participants (97 UHR, 141 First-Episode Psychosis [FEP], and 98 non-UHR/FEP), aged 13-35 years, completed the Comprehensive Assessment of At-Risk Mental States (CAARMS) and the GEOPTE scale of social cognition for psychosis.
