Unlabelled: The precise role of Lipoprotein associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PlA2) in the pathogenesis of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and in the prediction of future cardiovascular events is still debated. So far, few data exist on the variations of Lp-PlA2 activity in ACS and especially in NSTE-ACS vs. STEMI patients, where thrombotic and atherosclerotic mechanisms could play a differential role.

Individuals with idiopathic Parkinson's disease (PD) benefit from Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation (RAS) concerning gait impairment recovery. In PD, RAS may help eliciting rhythmic and automatized motor responses, including gait, by bypassing the deteriorated internal "clock" within basal ganglia for automatic and rhythmic motricity. We aimed at exploring the contribution of the cerebellum to this "bypass effect" in response to RAS.

Background: Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is a rare and complex genetic disease, with numerous implications on metabolic, endocrine, neuropsychomotor systems, and with behavioural and intellectual disorders. Rare disease patient registries are important scientific tools (1) to collect clinical and epidemiologic data, (2) to assess the clinical management including the diagnostic delay, (3) to improve patients' care and (4) to foster research to identify new therapeutic solutions. The European Union has recommended the implementation and use of registries and databases.

Over two thirds of ovarian cancer patients present with advanced stage disease at the time of diagnosis. In this scenario, standard treatment includes a combination of cytoreductive surgery and carboplatinum-paclitaxel-based chemotherapy. Despite the survival advantage of patients treated with upfront cytoreductive surgery compared to women undergoing neo-adjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and interval debulking surgery (IDS) due to high tumor load or poor performance status has been demonstrated by multiple studies, this topic is still a matter of debate.

Poorly differentiated thyroid cancer (PDTC) and anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) have a worse prognosis with respect to well differentiated TC, and the loss of the capability of up-taking I is one of the main features characterizing aggressive TC. The knowledge of the genomic landscape of TC can help clinicians to discover the responsible alterations underlying more advance diseases and to address more tailored therapy. In fact, to date, the antiangiogenic multi-targeted kinase inhibitor (aaMKIs) sorafenib, lenvatinib, and cabozantinib, have been approved for the therapy of aggressive radioiodine (RAI)-resistant papillary TC (PTC) or follicular TC (FTC).

Background: Cystic fibrosis is caused by mutations impairing expression, trafficking, stability and/or activity of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) chloride channel. The G1244E mutation causes a severe gating defect that it is not completely rescued by ivacaftor but requires the use of a second compound (a co-potentiator). Recently, it has been proposed that the corrector elexacaftor may act also as a co-potentiator.

Ovarian cancer is the eighth most common neoplasm in women with a high mortality rate mainly due to a marked propensity for peritoneal spread directly at diagnosis, as well as tumor recurrence after radical surgical treatment. Treatments for peritoneal metastases have to be designed from a patient's perspective and focus on meaningful measures of benefit. Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), a strategy combining maximal cytoreductive surgery with regional chemotherapy, has been proposed to treat advanced ovarian cancer.

Lipomatous hypertrophy of the interatrial septum (LHIS) is a histologically benign cardiac lesion that is defined by excessive fat accumulation in the area of the interatrial septum (IAS) that does not include the fossa ovalis. Another unusual illness is lipomatosis, which is defined as a broad overgrowth of mature adipose tissue that involves a large portion of an extremity or trunk. We describe a rare case with significant LHIS accompanied by subcutaneous lipomatosis.

Methods: The databases of 16 high-volume stroke centers were retrospectively screened for consecutive patients with isolated M2 occlusion and a baseline National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score ≤5 who received either early MT (eMT) or best medical management (BMM) with the possibility of rescue MT (rMT) on early neurological worsening. Because our patients were not randomized, we used propensity score matching (PSM) to estimate the treatment effect of eMT compared with the BMM/rMT.
