Purpose: A debilitating and poorly understood symptom of Parkinson's disease (PD) is freezing of gait (FoG), which increases the risk of falling. Clinical evaluations of FoG, relying on patients' subjective reports and manual examinations by specialists, are unreliable, and most detection methods are influenced by subject-specific factors.
Method: To address this, we developed a novel algorithm for detecting FoG events based on movement signals.

Purpose: The thyroid imaging reporting and data system (TIRADS) was developed as a standard global term to describe thyroid nodule risk features, aiming to address issues such as variability and low reproducibility in nodule feature detection and interpretation by different physicians. The objective of this study is to comprehensively study articles that utilize AI techniques to design and develop decision support systems for classifying thyroid nodule risk on the basis of various TIRADS guidelines from ultrasound images.
Methods: This protocol includes five steps: identification of key research questions of the review, descriptions of the systematic literature search strategies, criteria for study inclusion and exclusion, study quality measures, and the data extraction process.

Hepatitis B is still one of the most important infectious diseases among humans, which is considered a serious threat to their lives. Early diagnosis of this disease can be an effective measure in stopping the chain of transmission and treatment of the disease. In this review study, an attempt has been made to explain the use of biosensors as a fast, high-efficiency, and low-cost method in diagnosis.

Previous studies reported that iron may have an indispensable role in the risk of hypertension (HTN). However, the result of the studies on the relationship between iron and risk of HTN is inconsistent. This study aimed to assess the association between the association of dietary iron intake and HTN in the Iranian population.

This paper presents a control method for trajectory tracking of a robotic manipulator, subject to practical constraints and uncertainties. The proposed method is established upon an adaptive backstepping procedure incorporating a tangent-type barrier Lyapunov function and it preserves some important metrics of trajectory tracking such as fast and user-defined settling time response and robustness against actuation faults and unknown control gain. The proposed design maintains the system trajectory within a prescribed performance bound and relaxes the assumption of the bounded initial condition.

Type I Chiari malformation is a developmental anomaly with various proposed surgical techniques for its management. The dura-splitting technique is a less invasive approach and involves the resection of the outer layer of the dura while sparing the internal layer. While this less-known approach may minimize the complication rates, there are concerns about its efficacy and outcome.

The increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes has become a major global problem. Insulin resistance has a central role in pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes. Skeletal muscle is responsible for the disposal of most of the glucose under conditions of insulin stimulation, and insulin resistance in skeletal muscle causes dysregulation of glucose homeostasis in the whole body.

In this study, we investigate the impact of aortic stenosis on the hemodynamics of pulsatile blood flow within a 3D aortic model. Employing a non-Newtonian Casson model with a hematocrit of 45%, our study introduces a preliminary hypothesis to simulate blood flow dynamics, incorporating both linear elastic and viscoelastic models to define the mechanical characteristics of the artery. Through simulations conducted with Ansys-Cfx (version 15), we utilize a 2-way fluid-structure interaction (FSI) approach, employing a Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation with second-order accuracy.
