An evaluation of the lower extremity muscle strength of patients with chronic venous insufficiency.

Objective: In this study, the aim was to evaluate the lower extremity muscle strength in patients with chronic venous insufficiency using an isokinetic dynamometer.

Methods: The study comprised a group of 36 lower extremities of 23 patients diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency and a control group of 40 lower extremities of 20 patients who did not have chronic venous insufficiency. In the diagnosis and evaluation of chronic venous insufficiency, photoplethysmography was used to evaluate the venous return circulation time.

Epidermal cyst in an unusual site: A case report.

Introduction: Epidermoid cysts can occur in a variety of locations including face, trunk, neck, extremities and scalp. Up to now, those vulvar epidermal cysts reported in the literature were localized on the labia majora and the clitoris. This is the first case of epidermal cyst reported on the labia minora.

Correction of right to left shunt by transcatheter treatment of pulmonary stenosis and atrial septal defect: a case report.

Co-occurrence of atrial septal defect and pulmonary valve stenosis is a rare entity for adult population. It is possible to correct both the pulmonary stenosis and the defect in the atrial septum by transcatheter methods. We present a case of right to left shant due to severe pulmonary stenosis and atrial defect which was successfully corrected by transcatheter pulmonary valvuloplasty and closure of the atrial septal defect.

Inguinal herniotomy with the Mitchell-Banks' technique is safe in older children.

Purpose: There is a tendency for the majority of surgeons to open the inguinal canal in children over two years old when performing inguinal hernia repair. On the other hand, in small children, most surgeons perform the herniotomy superficially to the external ring, as in Mitchell-Banks' technique (MBT). Our aim was to compare the Ferguson hernioplasty (FH) and Mitchell-Banks' technique in terms of recurrence and complication rates in older children.

Background: Cardiac syndrome X (CSX) is defined as normal coronary arteries with angina pectoris and a positive stress test. Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) plays an important role in inflammatory process in cardiovascular system, therefore EAT may affect the pathogenesis of different cardiovascular disease. The aim of this study was to investigate the EAT thickness in patients with CSX and compare normal subjects.
