Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the role of Her2 status in early stage triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy, revealing conflicting results regarding its prognostic impact.
  • A total of 620 female TNBC patients were analyzed, with 68.9% having Her2-0 and 31.1% having Her2-low status; the rates of pathological complete response (pCR) were similar between these groups.
  • While the Her2-0 group showed better disease-free survival (DFS), the overall survival (OS) rates were similar between the two groups, indicating the need for further research into the implications of Her2 status in this treatment context.

Background: Although premature ejaculation (PE) is the most common male sexual dysfunction, the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood.

Aim: The study sought to evaluate the possible associations among glans penis volume and tissue stiffness measured using penile ultrasonography and penile shear wave elastography (SWE) with PE.

Methods: Men 18 to 65 years of age with normal International Index of Erectile Function scores (>25) and who were diagnosed with PE between June 2021 and June 2022 were enrolled.

Department of Neurosurgery, Aydın Adnan Menderes University School of Medicine, Efeler, Aydın, Turkey.

Subdural hematoma is a common entity encountered by the neurosurgeon. The disease has acute, subacute, and chronic forms. Management of the disease changes according to the etiology of the lesion, yet the main goals are, as with most neurosurgical interventions, decompression of neural tissue and restoration of perfusion.

Article Synopsis
  • Hemodynamic instability is common in elderly hypertensive patients during general anesthesia induction, and pulse wave velocity (PWV) serves as a key indicator of arterial stiffness.
  • A study was conducted to determine the relationship between preoperative PWV measurements and hemodynamic changes during anesthesia induction in hypertensive (HT) and non-hypertensive (non-HT) patients.
  • Results showed that higher PWV in HT patients correlated with increased rates of hypotension at key moments during intubation, suggesting that PWV can effectively predict hypotension risks in this group.*

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical characteristics of men presenting for other complaints whose ejaculatory function inquiry indicated premature ejaculation (PE).

Methods: The data of 536 PE patients, including those who presented with the complaint of PE (group 1) and those presenting with other complaints who were diagnosed with PE (group 2) as a result of ejaculatory function inquiry using estimated intravaginal ejaculation latency time (IELT) and Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool (PEDT), were retrospectively evaluated. Age, PE type, comorbidities, recommended treatments, and treatment acceptance status of all patients were recorded.

Background: Lung cancer is the most common cancer type worldwide, with non-small cell lung cancer being the most frequently studied. Identifying of cancer-related genes in non-small cell lung cancer is crucial for developing individualized treatment, particularly as mutation profiles can vary by country and ethnicity.

Aims: To identify comprehensive mutation profiles in a cohort of Turkish patients with non-small cell lung cancer using the next-generation sequencing.

Objective: To evaluate the long-term effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on sexual functions and behavior in men with heterosexual partners.

Materials And Methods: A total of 602 participants completed an online questionnaire, shared via social networks, between November 20 and December 20, 2020. Pre-pandemic sexual intercourse frequency, International Erectile Dysfunction Index (IIEF-15) score, intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT), premature ejaculation diagnostic tool (PEDT) score, and activities during sexual intercourse were compared to the ones during the pandemic.

Objective: To explore the iodine status of lactating mother-newborn pairs, and whether neonatal serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) can be used for estimation of iodine status of the population.

Materials And Methods: A total of 334 mothers and their healthy neonates were included. Urine, serum, and breast milk samples were obtained at 4th and 6th days of delivery.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between pathological classification of parotid gland tumors and conventional MRI - diffusion-weighted imaging findings and also contribute the possible effect of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) to diagnosis.

Methods: 60 patients with parotid masses diagnosed using histopathology and/or cytology were enrolled in this retrospective study. All patients were evaluated using a 1.

Objective: Medical literature shows that some authors tend to use the eponym Behçet/Behçet's disease/syndrome, whereas others use its amalgamated form, that is, Adamantiades-Behçet/Behçet's disease/syndrome. We investigated the changes in the use of these eponyms over the past 2 decades.

Methods: We used the PubMed database to search for publications that contained any of these nomenclatures using the appropriate tools available.

Adrenal pseudocysts are rare, nonfunctional, asymptomatic cystic masses that originate from the adrenal gland and are usually located in the suprarenal area. They are usually incidentally discovered during imaging, but diagnosis can be challenging because they are similar to benign and malignant cystic lesions of the adrenal gland and adjacent organs. We describe a giant, adrenal hemorrhagic pseudocyst that was atypically located, extending from the middle to the lower poles of the kidney, admixed with a renal cortical cyst.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the effectiveness of anterior and combined surgical approaches for treating acetabular fractures in 35 patients, analyzing outcomes retrospectively.
  • Out of 37 observed fractures, 30% were classified as simple and 70% as mixed, with various types such as transverse and column fractures identified.
  • Results showed functional outcomes were mostly good to perfect in 81% of cases, while radiological outcomes were similarly positive, suggesting that anterior approaches are effective for specific fracture types, potentially reducing the need for posterior approaches over time.

Testicular ischemia and necrosis are quite rare complications following inguinal hernia repair. There is still no consensus on the mechanism of infarction and necrosis in the literature. We present a case with total testicular ischemia and necrosis in the early period following the inguinal hernia repair with prolene mesh, ending up with orchiectomy.
