Normative Values for Thyroid Volume and Tracheal Index in Healthy Turkish Newborns in an Iodine Sufficient Region.

Objective: The study aims to determine the normal values of thyroid volume and tracheal index in healthy term newborns born in an iodine-sufficient population. Additionally, we investigated the usability of a handheld device for assessing the tracheal index.

Methods: Thyroid imaging was performed at 0-2 days and 15-30 days using handheld and portable ultrasound devices.

Survival Outcomes of Patients with Primary Plasma Cell Leukemia in the Era of Proteasome Inhibitors and Immunomodulatory Agents: A Real-Life Multicenter Analysis.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to obtain real-life data on the use of antimyeloma agents, which significantly increase overall survival (OS) in multiple myeloma (MM) patients, in primary plasma cell leukemia (pPCL) patients with poor prognosis.

Materials And Methods: Data from 53 patients who were diagnosed with pPCL between 2011 and 2020 and who used at least one proteasome inhibitor (PI) and/or immunomodulatory (IMID) agent were analyzed retrospectively. Depending on the year of the pPCL diagnosis, 20% leukocytes or ≥2x10/L plasma cells in the peripheral blood was used as a diagnostic criterion.

Clinicopathological significance of mutation profile detected by next generation sequencing in different metastatic organs of non-small cell lung cancers.

Background: The primary tumor and it's metastases show heterogeneity in molecular studies for targeted therapies in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer(NSCLC), the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. The study aimed to identify somatic mutations in biopsies from NSCLC patients' metastatic organs using Next-Generation Sequencing(NGS) and examine their association with clinicopathological parameters.

Materials And Methods: The study included 128 NSCLC patients and, NGS was performed on tumor biopsies from different metastatic organs at Molecular Pathology laboratory of the Department of Medical Pathology in Aydın Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Medicine.

Objective: Primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an acquired disorder of platelets with a complex and unclear mechanism of increased immune destruction or impaired production of platelets. While the management of ITP is evolving, there is still a need for guidance, particularly in certain circumstances such as pregnancy, emergencies, or patients requiring co-medications. The aim of this study was to identify the prevalence of endocrine and metabolic comorbidities observed during initial diagnosis and long-term follow-up in a nationwide cohort of pediatric CPG patients. A further aim was to highlight the difficulties associated with CPG management.

Objective: Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) refers to the use of portable ultrasound machines to perform quick and focused ultrasound examinations at a patient’s bedside or point-of-care. POCUS can be performed by all health workers with specific training to use POCUS. The aim of this study was to investigate the radiological performance and feasibility of POCUS using a handheld ultrasound device (HHUSD) in children for examining the thyroid gland.

Impulse oscillometry assessment of respiratory function in pediatric patients with a history of COVID-19.

Objective: While coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is generally considered to exhibit a less severe clinical course in children than in adults, studies have demonstrated that respiratory symptoms can endure for more than 3 months following infection in at least one-third of pediatric cases. The present study evaluates the respiratory functions of children aged 3-15 years within 3-6 months of their recovery from COVID-19 using impulse oscillometry (IOS) and compares them with the values of healthy children.

Methods: Included in this prospective cross-sectional study were 63 patients (patient group) aged 3-15 years who contracted COVID-19 between December 2021 and May 2022, as well as 57 healthy children as a control group, matched for age and sex.
