Clinicians need to have intimate knowledge and thorough understanding of both pulp chamber and root canal anatomy. They should be aware of possibility of anatomical variations in the root canal system during endodontic treatment. Maxillary canines usually have single root and root canal but rarely may have single root with two root canals.

Background: Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are concern about the intraoperative bleeding because blood supply to face is very generous. Increased blood loss may lead to the need for transfusion of blood and blood products and hence patients are exposed to the risks associated with it. Hence, this study was undertaken to compare whether there is any significant difference in blood loss, surgical field and duration of surgery in patients undergoing maxillofacial surgeries with and without hypotensive anesthesia.

Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Awadh Dental College and Hospital, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India.

Root canal revascularization attempts to make necrotic tooth alive by the use of certain simple clinical protocols. Earlier apexification was the treatment of choice for treating and preserving immature permanent teeth that have lost pulp vitality. This procedure promoted the formation of apical barrier to seal the root canal of immature teeth and nonvital filling materials contained within root canal space.

  • Conducted on 100 patients with chronic periodontitis, the researchers employed a split-mouth technique to evaluate the outcomes of both treatments.
  • Results showed that the combination treatment with tetracycline fibers led to a greater reduction in pocket depth and improved clinical attachment levels compared to scaling and root planing alone over a 3-month period.

Although stock trays often provide mechanical retention for elastomeric impression materials, manufacturers typically recommend the use of an adhesive, whether a stock or custom tray is used. The mention of the bond strength on the adhesive packaging is not available, therefore the clinician has no idea whatsoever of the ideal adhesive. The aim of this study was to evaluate the bond strength of three vinyl polysiloxane (VPS) materials, one with a poly(methyl methacrylate) autopolymerizing (PMMA) specimen and another with a light-polymerizing tray material (VLC), using the adhesive recommended by the manufacturer of the impression material, and two universal adhesives.

Rehabilitation of deficient alveolar ridges has long been a challenge. The distraction osteogenesis procedure before placement of dental implants has solved the puzzle and its advantages over block grafting includes simultaneous expansion of soft tissue, high degree of dimensional stability, abbreviated overall treatment time, and no graft required. In this case report distraction osteogenesis of deficient anterior mandibular ridge was performed and then an implant supported fixed prosthesis was fabricated.

Background: Perpetual research in esthetic dentistry has stupendously contributed in improving the mechanical and esthetic properties of restorative materials. Recently introduced nanocomposite claim to possess higher optimized esthetic and mechanical properties superior to other esthetic restorative materials in clinical use. It has been highlighted in many studies that intraoral degradation of composites is a consequence of both mechanical factors and chemical degradation.

Hemangiomas of the head and neck are considered to be benign tumors of infancy that are characterized by a rapid growth phase with endothelial cell proliferation, followed by gradual involution. Central hemangiomas are a rare occurrence and even rarer are the hybrid tumors of central hemangiomas with odontogenic tumors such as ameloblastomas. This paper reports a case of one such hybrid tumor in a middle aged adult clinical presenting as a mandibular swelling with indistinct mixed radiographic presentation and histopathologically comprising of intimately associated hemangiomatous vascular channels and typical ameloblastic areas.
