Many healthcare professionals are experiencing increased stress and burnout, worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to negative individual and organizational outcomes such as mental illness, maladaptive coping, job dissatisfaction, poor patient care, and higher turnover costs. Mindfulness practice is a promising evidence-based approach to impact stress and burnout. This quality improvement pilot project evaluated the impact of a free mindfulness smartphone application on stress and burnout levels in certified or licensed adult healthcare professionals over 6 weeks.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether assault characteristics are related to the concerns about police reporting expressed by sexual assault victims who have forensic evidence collected but do not report their assault to police at that time.
Methods: We analyzed medical records of patients who received services at a hospital-based forensic nursing program between 2010 and 2021.

Genetically encoded non-canonical amino acids (ncAAs) with electrophilic moieties are excellent tools to investigate protein-protein interactions (PPIs) both and . These ncAAs, including a series of alkyl bromide-based ncAAs, mainly target cysteine residues to form protein-protein cross-links. Although some reactivities towards lysine and tyrosine residues have been reported, a comprehensive understanding of their reactivity towards a broad range of nucleophilic amino acids is lacking.

Background: Mammalian cells are flexible and can rapidly change shape when they contract, adhere, or migrate. The nucleus must be stiff enough to withstand cytoskeletal forces, but flexible enough to remodel as the cell changes shape. This is particularly important for cells migrating through confined spaces, where the nuclear shape must change in order to fit through a constriction.

Background: Many people living with cardiovascular disease (CVD) are affected by sexual problems associated with the condition. International guidelines recommend all patients with CVD should receive sexual counselling, yet this is rarely provided by health professionals. The current study piloted the Cardiac Health and Relationship Management and Sexuality (CHARMS) intervention, a complex multi-level intervention designed to increase the implementation of sexual counselling guidelines in hospital-based cardiac rehabilitation (CR) in Ireland.

Background: This project studies the effect of group-based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) following Attention Bias Modification (ABM) on residual symptoms in recurrent depression. ACT is a cognitive-behavioral intervention combining acceptance and mindfulness processes with commitment and behavior-change processes. ACT enjoys modest empirical support in treating depression and has also shown promising results in secondary prevention of depression.

Background: Global efforts to end female genital mutilation (FGM) have intensified in recent decades because of the rising awareness that such a practice is an act of extreme violence against women and girls. Articles on FGM have been published highlighting the combined efforts of international and non-governmental organizations, governments, as well as religious and civil society groups to end the practice. However, the consequences of this research are not well known, and it seems that the socioeconomic aspects of the practice are underreported.

Dendritic cells (DCs) play important roles in initiation of the pathogenic processes of autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Tolerogenic dendritic cells (tolDCs) are generated from naïve DCs and induce T cell tolerance; thus, they represent a promising strategy for specific cellular therapy for autoimmune diseases. In this study, we generated green fluorescent protein (GFP)-labeled tolDCs and confirmed their phenotypes and biological functions.
