Methods: A prospective cohort study of 369 patients (626 central venous access devices; 7,682 catheter days) was undertaken between March 2017 and March 2018 across two cancer care in-patient units in a large teaching hospital.

Results: Twenty-seven percent (n = 168) of participants had a central venous access device-associated skin complication.

Recently, Dientamoeba fragilis has emerged as a significant and common enteropathogen. The majority of patients with dientamoebiasis present with gastrointestinal complaints and chronic symptoms are common. Numerous studies have successfully demonstrated parasite clearance, coupled with complete resolution of clinical symptoms following treatment with various antiparasitic compounds.

A submersible device was constructed for simultaneous in situ measurement of the effective quantum yield of chlorophyll fluorescence (ΔF / F') of eight macroalgal samples. The device incorporated a commercially available PAM fluorometer. Four samples each of the macroalgae Iridaea mawsonii (Lucas) and Monostroma hariotii (Gain) were examined.
