Graduate Nurses in Acute Mental Health Settings and Their Viewpoints of Nursing Education to Support Their Transition to Mental Health Nursing: A Q Methodology Study.

Graduate nurses are now comprehensively prepared in Australia and have limited mental health knowledge and experiences to work in acute mental health settings. As such, graduate nurses would need the support that they can get from their respective mental health services to progress from novice to advanced beginner. Nursing education is an important support for graduate nurses to develop the knowledge and skills required for them to transition successfully into acute mental health settings.

The Public Mental Health Framework: thinking about law as preventive medicine.

Health, mental health, and well-being are not 'natural' but are shaped by social and environmental factors. This article aims to reorient the development of all laws and policies to do more to prevent mental ill-health and promote well-being as a core function of the contemporary state. It introduces a new conceptual and empirical model, the Public Mental Health Framework, based on three areas of research: (i) the social determinants of health and mental health, which include social structures and daily living conditions (such as poverty, inequality, education, employment, discrimination, adverse childhood experiences, and crime); (ii) health and human rights; and (iii) the intermediate social model of disability.

Although the analgesic properties of small molecules and peptides have been primarily tested on isolated murine dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons, emerging strategies to develop, study, and characterise human pluripotent stem cell (hPSC)-derived sensory neurons present a promising alternative.

'Bone Health-Across a Woman's Lifespan'.

Despite a high burden of osteoporosis and minimal trauma fractures worldwide, there is still a treatment gap in timely diagnosis and optimal treatment. There is also a lack of international consensus and guidelines on the management of bone fragility in premenopausal women. This review article provides an overview of the current understanding of factors impacting women's bone health across the adult lifespan, as well as dilemmas in the diagnosis, assessment and management of osteoporosis in premenopausal and postmenopausal women, premature ovarian insufficiency and bone health following breast cancer.

Shaping the future rural healthcare landscape: perspectives of young healthcare professionals.

Introduction: Rural communities continue to struggle to access quality healthcare services. Even in countries where the majority of the population live in rural and remote areas, resources are concentrated in big cities, and this is continuing. As a result, countries with the highest proportion of rural residents correlate with the poorest access, which has negative implications for the health and wellbeing of people.

Aim: To identify and explore inhibitors and enablers of nursing and midwifery leadership in the Pacific; to develop context-specific recommendations for policy and practice.

Background: Many Pacific Island countries experience poor health outcomes and are vulnerable to climate-related health emergencies. Nursing and midwifery leadership is essential to improve regional health outcomes through influencing policy decisions, strengthening health systems and ensuring optimal health workforce utilisation.

Method: A cross sectional survey of Australian Registered Nurses related to their educational experience, awareness of the national disability support scheme and the concept of making reasonable adjustments.

Can responsible leaders transmute sustainability & OCBE among manufacturers in developing economy? A mediated moderated approach for organizational sustainability.

This study examined the link among environmentally conscious organizational citizenship behavior (OCBE) and responsible leadership among 167 management-level workers in manufacturing plants of arts industry in a developing economy. The study explored the impact of responsible leadership on OCBE, both directly and indirectly through colleague exchange. It also explored the role of a green organizational environment, employee goal orientation, and supervisory support in regulating the link between coworker exchange and OCBE.

Trends and contributors of complete continuum of maternal healthcare service utilization in Ethiopia: a multivariate decomposition analyses.

Background: Most maternal deaths are preventable by accessing essential maternity healthcare services. However, maternal mortality rates remain high in Ethiopia partly due to only a few women using a complete Continuum of Maternal Healthcare Services (CMHS). This study aims to assess trends and contributors for complete CMHS utilization in Ethiopia.

Comparing social stigma of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder: A quantitative experimental study.

Background: Currently, we know little regarding how stigma attributed to eating disorders compares to that of other psychological disorders and additionally within different types of eating disorders. In the current study, we aimed to explore the stigmatisation of eating disorders by comparing the stigma attributed to anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder, utilising depression as a comparative control.

Methods: A total of 235 participants from the general population were randomly assigned to an anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder, or depression condition.

Background: Mechanisms underlying the association of life-course adiposity with incident hypertension in adulthood have not been comprehensively investigated. In this study, we aimed to investigate the potential biochemical and metabolomic mechanisms underlying the association between adiposity and incident hypertension.

Methods: A total of 180,527 participants from the UK Biobank aged 37 to 73 years were included.

A psychometric appraisal of a revised preparedness for medication administration questionnaire in final-year undergraduate nursing students: a secondary analysis.

Background: Students must be prepared for the transference of medication administration (pharmacology knowledge and clinical skills) to clinical practice. The Preparedness for Medication Oral Administration questionnaire has been used in several studies and demonstrated strong internal reliability and consistency. The questionnaire has been revised to align with updated medication competencies.

Quality of antenatal care services in Afghanistan: findings from the national survey 2022-2023.

Background: The optimum use of antenatal care (ANC) services can reduce pregnancy-related complications and deaths. However, there is limited information on the quality of ANC services in Afghanistan. This study aimed to assess the quality of ANC services and examine the influence of sociodemographic factors on the quality of ANC services received by pregnant women in Afghanistan.

Hybrid generative adversarial network based on frequency and spatial domain for histopathological image synthesis.

Background: Due to the complexity and cost of preparing histopathological slides, deep learning-based methods have been developed to generate high-quality histological images. However, existing approaches primarily focus on spatial domain information, neglecting the periodic information in the frequency domain and the complementary relationship between the two domains. In this paper, we proposed a generative adversarial network that employs a cross-attention mechanism to extract and fuse features across spatial and frequency domains.

The biodiversity of ice-free Antarctica database.

Antarctica is one of Earth's most untouched, inhospitable, and poorly known regions. Although knowledge of its biodiversity has increased over recent decades, a diverse, wide-ranging, and spatially explicit compilation of the biodiversity that inhabits Antarctica's permanently ice-free areas is unavailable. This absence hinders both Antarctic biodiversity research and the integration of Antarctica in global biodiversity-related studies.

Correlations between postmortem quantitative MRI parameters and demyelination, axonal loss and gliosis in multiple sclerosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is frequently used to monitor disease progression in multiple sclerosis (MS). This study aims to systematically evaluate the correlation between MRI measures and histopathological changes, including demyelination, axonal loss, and gliosis, in the central nervous system of MS patients. We systematically reviewed post-mortem histological studies evaluating myelin density, axonal loss, and gliosis using quantitative imaging in MS.

Fear of cancer recurrence in long-term colorectal cancer survivors: a nationwide cross-sectional study.

Purpose: Knowledge about fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) among recurrence-free long-term colorectal cancer survivors (CRCS) is limited. This national cross-sectional study aimed to (1) assess the prevalence and correlates of FCR among CRCS; (2) investigate associations between colorectal cancer-specific symptoms and FCR; and (3) identify predictors of interest in engaging in FCR treatment.

Methods: We identified 9638 living Danish CRCS, age above 18 years, diagnosed between 2014 and 2018 through the Danish Clinical Registries.

Acute Concurrent Exercise Improves Inhibitory Control Without Mediating the Role of Lactate: An Event-Related Potential Study.

Background: Concurrent exercise (CE), an emerging exercise modality characterized by sequential bouts of aerobic (AE) and resistance exercise (RE), has demonstrated acute benefits on executive functions (EFs) and neuroelectric P3 amplitude. However, the effect of acute CE on inhibitory control, a sub-component of EFs, and P3 amplitude remains inconclusive. Moreover, exploring the mechanisms underlying the effects of acute exercise on EFs contributes to scientific comprehension, with lactate recognized as a crucial candidate positively correlated with EFs.

Rethinking the residual approach: leveraging statistical learning to operationalize cognitive resilience in Alzheimer's disease.

Cognitive resilience (CR) describes the phenomenon of individuals evading cognitive decline despite prominent Alzheimer's disease neuropathology. Operationalization and measurement of this latent construct is non-trivial as it cannot be directly observed. The residual approach has been widely applied to estimate CR, where the degree of resilience is estimated through a linear model's residuals.

Dehydration rapidly induces expression of NCED genes from a single subclade in diverse eudicots.

A gene within a single subclade of NCED genes is triggered in response to both, short- and long-term dehydration treatments, in three model dicot species. During dehydration, some plants can rapidly synthesise the stress hormone abscisic acid (ABA) in leaves within 20 min, triggering the closure of stomata and limiting further water loss. This response is associated with significant transcriptional upregulation of Nine-cis-Epoxycarotenoid Dioxygenase (NCED) genes, which encode the enzyme considered to be rate-limiting in ABA biosynthesis.

An Exploration of the Interplay Between Caffeine and Antidepressants Through the Lens of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics.
