Authenticity has captivated scholars. But what is it? An emerging view considers it exaggerated favorability (self-enhancement), whereas traditional views regard it as self-accuracy and self-consistency. We tested these theoretical views by contrasting the authentic self with the presented self, a highly desirable representation.

Background: Clinical predictors of treatment-resistant depression could improve treatment strategies. Depressive symptom profiles at baseline are potential outcome predictors, but little evidence is available, and sex-specific profiles have been scarcely investigated.

Methods: Baseline symptom scores of 1294 patients with major depressive disorder were assessed by the Montgomery-Åsberg depression rating scale (MADRS) as part of a multicenter study by the "Group for the Studies of Resistant Depression".

Long-term exposure to air pollution and greenness in association with respiratory emergency room visits and hospitalizations: The Life-GAP project.

Background: Air pollution has been linked to respiratory diseases, while the effects of greenness remain inconclusive.

Objective: We investigated the associations between exposure to particulate matter (PM and PM), black carbon (BC), nitrogen dioxide (NO), ozone (O), and greenness (normalized difference vegetation index, NDVI) with respiratory emergency room visits and hospitalizations across seven Northern European centers in the European Community Respiratory Health Survey (ECRHS) study.

Methods: We used modified mixed-effects Poisson regression to analyze associations of exposure in 1990, 2000 and mean exposure 1990-2000 with respiratory outcomes recorded duing ECRHS phases II and III.

Understanding the evolution of human traits is a fundamental yet challenging question. In a recent Cell Genomics article, Kun et al. integrate large-scale genomic and phenotypic data, including deep-learning-derived imaging phenotypes, with temporal annotations to estimate the timing of evolutionary changes that led to differences in traits between modern humans and primates or hominin ancestors.

The Amazon rainforest is characterized by a limited number of hyperdominant trees that play an oversized role in its ecosystems, nutrient cycle, and rainfall production. Some of these, such as the Brazil nut, appear to have been intensively exploited and dispersed by Indigenous populations since their earliest arrival in this part of South America around 13,000 years ago. However, the genetic diversity-and geographic structure-of these species remains poorly understood, as does their exact relationship with past human land use.

FOG waste accumulation in treatment plants can cause clogging of pipes, production of excessive scums and foams, and negatively affect air/liquid oxygen transfer. While conventional disposal routes of this material can be limited by its water and organic content, FOG can represent a source of bio-energy other than bio-diesel production.

This review systematically examines the roles and applications of QS in AD, emphasizing its importance in enhancing process efficiency.

Non-invasive screening of WBCs requires the development of cost-effective point of care diagnostic tools. Infrared (IR) spectroscopy has the potential to identify and quantify cells in urine.

Background: Emergency departments have high levels of uncertainty, long wait times, resource shortages, overcrowding and a constantly changing environment. Impact analysis of programs, interventions, or policies in real-world settings is complex. There are many implementation evaluation theories, models, and frameworks (TMF) and researchers find choosing one challenging.

"I am not pain, I have pain": A pilot study examining iRest yoga nidra as a mind-body intervention for persistent pain.

Purpose: This pilot study was the first of its kind to examine the experiences of people with persistent pain engaging in a six-week iRest for Pain group program as part of multidisciplinary pain care.

Method: The present study used a qualitative, phenomenological design and reflexive thematic analysis to gain an understanding of the firsthand experience of patients who participated in the iRest for Pain group program. This program was offered in a specialist outpatient pain management service within a regional public hospital in Victoria, Australia.

How to correct QT interval after cardiac resynchronisation therapy.

Introduction: This study evaluates various formulae used to correct the QT interval in patients with wide QRS complexes to calculate corrected QT (QTc) following Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy (CRT).

Methods: We included patients with severe heart failure and left bundle branch block, presenting with a QRS duration of at least 120 milliseconds, who underwent successful CRT implantation. Patients were excluded if they had non-lateral left ventricular lead placement, metabolic disorders, atrial fibrillation, atrial tachycardia, or high-degree atrioventricular block prior to implantation.

Methods: Longitudinal data were taken from the nationally representative sample German Ageing Survey (wave 1 to wave 4; n = 18,491 observations). This study included community-dwelling individuals aged 40 years and over in Germany.
