Human-interpretable clustering of short text using large language models.

Clustering short text is a difficult problem, owing to the low word co-occurrence between short text documents. This work shows that large language models (LLMs) can overcome the limitations of traditional clustering approaches by generating embeddings that capture the semantic nuances of short text. In this study, clusters are found in the embedding space using Gaussian mixture modelling.

Discovering topics and trends in biosecurity law research: A machine learning approach.

This study employed machine learning techniques, specifically Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), to analyze 559 articles on biosecurity legislation from 1996 to 2023. The LDA model identified nine key research topics, including Agricultural Management and Production, Biosafety and Environmental Impact, Biological Invasion and Regulation, Biosecurity Legislation and Prevention, Agriculture and Environmental Relations, Virus Infection and Governance, Health Risk Assessment and Detection, Disease Prevention and Biotechnology, and Policy Control and Research. The findings reveal significant trends: an increasing focus on Biosecurity Legislation and Prevention and a declining interest in Agricultural Management and Production.

Urethra-sparing prostate cancer radiotherapy: Current practices and future insights from an international survey.

Purpose: In prostate cancer patients, high radiation doses to the urethra have been associated with an increased risk of severe genitourinary toxicity following dose-escalated radiotherapy. Urethra-sparing techniques have emerged as a promising approach to reduce urinary toxicity. This international survey aims to evaluate current global practices in urethra-sparing and explore future directions for the implementation of this technique in external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) for prostate cancer.

Recent advancement in Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rendered image-synthesis models capable of producing complex artworks that appear nearly indistinguishable from human-made works. Here we present a quantitative assessment of human perception and preference for art generated by OpenAI's DALL·E 2, a leading AI tool for art creation. Participants were presented with pairs of artworks, one human-made and one AI-generated, in either a preference-choice task or an origin-discrimination task.

Cystectomy for bilateral thigh fistulation after salvage radiotherapy for prostate cancer: A case report.

Fistulation following radiotherapy for prostate cancer is a rare occurrence that can have devastating consequences and often occurs after instrumentation. We present a 74-year-old male who underwent cystectomy for bilateral thigh fistulation years after radical prostatectomy and salvage radiotherapy for prostate cancer. Introduction: Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and intraperitoneal chemotherapy (IPC) represent a high-risk for venous thromboembolism (VTE) due to malignancy, prolonged surgery and immobility. We investigated the incidence of and risk factors for VTE following CRS/IPC.

This study is aimed at describing the use of LVR in practice across Brazil.
