Lateral pterygoid muscle enthesis reconstruction in alloplastic total temporomandibular joint replacement: An animal experiment with histological verification.

In current alloplastic total temporomandibular joint replacements (TMJRs) typically the lateral pterygoid muscle (LPM) insertion is sacrificed, affecting joint function. This study assesses a novel additively manufactured TMJR (CADskills BV, Gent, Belgium) designed to enable LPM reinsertion through a scaffold feature on the implant. Thirteen TMJRs were implanted in Swifter crossbreed sheep, with follow-up CT scans after 288 days to evaluate LPM reintegration.

Patterns, timing and predictors of recurrence following pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma: an international multicentre retrospective cohort study.

Background: Most patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) develop recurrence. No previous studies have investigated predictors of local-only recurrence following PD for PDAC. Background: Smoking rates have declined markedly in Australia over time; however, lesbian, bisexual and queer (LBQ) women continue to smoke at higher rates than heterosexual women. Understanding the factors influencing smoking in this population is crucial for developing targeted cessation interventions and other supports.

Methods: Experiences of and motivations for smoking among 42 LBQ cisgender and transgender women and non-binary people in Australia who currently or previously smoked were explored through semi-structured interviews.

Background: Early literature on the Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device reported 80-90% adequate aneurysm occlusion but low complete occlusion (40-55%). It is uncertain whether residual or recurrent aneurysms require re-treatment to prevent future rupture.

Objective: To systematically review the literature to meta-analyze occlusion and complication rates after re-treatment of these aneurysms.

We present a case where acute neurological symptoms followed a very minor head injury, and an underlying genetic cause was identified. We highlight the role that head injuries, even when innocuous, may have in precipitating and worsening a neurogenetic disorder.

A woman in her early 20s presented with acute onset dizziness, vertigo, truncal ataxia and dysarthria 2 weeks following an acute viral illness.

Topical brinzolamide-induced ciliary body effusion with secondary angle closure and myopic shift.

Here, we describe a rare case of drug-induced unilateral ciliary body effusion precipitated by topical brinzolamide, presenting acutely with pain, angle closure and myopic shift.Ciliary body effusion was suspected clinically and confirmed by ultrasound biomicroscopy. Brinzolamide was ceased, atropine instilled and the ciliary body effusion promptly resolved without need for further treatment.
