Despite its growing popularity and efficacy in relieving pain, dry needling can lead to adverse events. Aims: Aurora kinase A (AURKA) has been implicated in promoting myeloid and renal fibrosis. This study aimed to investigate the impact and underlying mechanism of AURKA on liver fibrosis and to assess the therapeutic potential of MLN8237, a small-molecule AURKA inhibitor, in preventing liver fibrosis in mice.

Methods: The research used bioinformatics analysis and immunohistochemistry staining on fibrotic liver tissues from human and mouse models to assess AURKA expression.

Additionally, advances in donor organ preservation have expanded organ availability affording the opportunity to expand indications for liver transplantation, such as colorectal cancer with unresectable liver metastases. Current data support comparable overall survival (OS) for liver transplantation for colorectal cancer with liver metastases compared with general liver transplantation recipients.

Sleeve gastrectomy reveals the plasticity of the human gastric epithelium.

Gastrin is secreted following a rise in gastric pH, leading to gastric acid secretion. Sleeve gastrectomy (SG), a bariatric surgery where 80% of the gastric corpus is excised, presents a challenge for gastric pH homeostasis. Using histology, and single-cell RNA sequencing of the gastric epithelium in 12 women, we observed that SG is associated with an increase in a sub-population of acid-secreting parietal cells that overexpress respiratory enzymes and an increase in histamine-secreting enterochromaffin-like cells (ECLs).

Using Community Engagement to Create a Telecoaching Intervention to Improve Self-Management in Adolescents and Young Adults With Cystic Fibrosis: Qualitative Study.

Background: Adolescents and young adults (AYA) with cystic fibrosis (CF) are at risk for deviating from their daily treatment regimen due to significant time burden, complicated daily therapies, and life stressors. Developing patient-centric, effective, engaging, and practical behavioral interventions is vital to help sustain therapeutically meaningful self-management.

Objective: This study aimed to devise and refine a patient-centered telecoaching intervention to foster self-management in AYA with CF using a combination of intervention development approaches, including an evidence- and theory-based approach (ie, applying existing theories and research evidence for behavior change) and a target population-centered approach (ie, intervention refinement based on the perspectives and actions of those individuals who will use it).

Purpose Of Review: This review addresses the current treatment paradigm and new advancements in the management of microsatellite instability-high/mismatch repair deficient (MSI-H/dMMR) esophagogastric cancer (EGC).

Recent Findings: While chemotherapy and surgery remain the cornerstone of EGC treatment, MSI-H/dMMR tumors harbor high tumor mutational burden and represent a subset of patients who benefit from immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI). ICI has been incorporated in the front line setting with and without chemotherapy for advanced disease.

Clinicopathologic characteristics of ductal carcinoma in situ and risk of subsequent invasive breast cancer: a multicenter, population-based cohort study.

Purpose: To study the association between clinicopathologic characteristics of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and risk of subsequent invasive breast cancer (IBC).

Methods: We conducted a case-control study nested in a multicenter, population-based cohort of 8175 women aged ≥ 18 years with DCIS diagnosed between 1987 and 2016 and followed for a median duration of 83 months. Cases (n = 497) were women with a first diagnosis of DCIS who developed a subsequent IBC ≥ 6 months later; controls (2/case; n = 959) were matched to cases on age at and calendar year of DCIS diagnosis.

Black Children's Perceptions of Parental Support and Parenting Practices: 6-Month Weight Loss and Retention in a Pediatric Weight Management Program.

Objective: Black families are less likely to continue in pediatric weight management programs (PWMPs) and have less optimal outcomes. Few studies have examined how parenting practices and perceived support influence Black children's retention and weight loss in PWMPs.

Method: To fill this gap, this study sampled Black children and their parent ( = 49) who were participating in a Midwest PWMP to explore how children's reports of parental support and parenting practices at program initiation associate with early weight loss 3- and 6-month and retention at 6-month in the PWMP.

[]: systems thinker, process innovator, boundary spanner, team player, and skilled communicator. Using a mixed-methods evaluation, we examined how the I-Corps@NCATS training program, delivered across twenty-two Clinical and Translational Science Award Hubs, impacted the development of these key translational scientist characteristics.

Diabetes Centers' Participation in the T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Collaborative Advances Health Equity and Clinical Outcomes.

As the learning health network known as the T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Collaborative (T1DX-QI) has expanded on a significant scale to provide care for more than 120,000 people since its inception in 2016, assessing the quality improvement (QI) culture and monitoring clinical outcome improvements of participating centers has become vital to understanding the network's progress and success. Centers participating in the T1DX-QI complete regular QI culture self-assessments to quantify four evidence-based areas of culture: QI team structure, QI foundation, QI capacity, and QI success. This study builds on a previous baseline analysis to demonstrate self-reported improvements in T1DX-QI centers' QI culture from 2021 to 2022 and summarizes QI successes experienced by participating centers.

Experiences of People With Type 1 Diabetes Using the iLet Bionic Pancreas in Primary Care: A Qualitative Analysis.

This qualitative substudy sought to identify and understand the experiences of primary care patients with type 1 diabetes using the iLet Bionic Pancreas (Beta Bionics, Inc.) during the first clinical trial testing the automated insulin delivery (AID) system in the primary care setting. Participants in that clinical trial completed a brief semi-structured interview after the trial's completion, during which they were asked questions related to their perceptions of and experiences with using the iLet AID system.
