Hempseed meal (HSM) is a potential alternative feedstuff for livestock due to its high protein content, but it has not been approved for animal feed in the United States due to safety concerns. This study was conducted to determine the effects of HSM on feed intake, growth performance, serum biochemistry, ruminal papillae morphology, ruminal fermentation profiles, and carcass characteristics of intact male goats. Thirty-six Boer × Spanish intact male goats were randomly assigned to one of four experimental diets ( = 9 goats/diet): 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% HSM on as-fed basis.

Thirteen elements were measured in 76 surface grab sediment samples and 90 segments of four cores from Lakes Erie and Ontario. By combining the data obtained previously from Lakes Superior, Michigan, and Huron, the spatial distribution, temporal trends, major influencing factors, anthropogenic enrichments, categorization, and ecological risks of target metals in sediment were evaluated for the Great Lakes region. Regionwide, Lake Ontario had the highest median concentrations for Ag, As, Cd, Zn, and Pb, while the highest Cr concentration was found in the Western Basin of Lake Erie.

This study addresses the limited noninvasive tools for Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC) progression-free survival (PFS) prediction by identifying Computed Tomography (CT)-based biomarkers for predicting prognosis. A retrospective analysis was conducted on data from 203 HNSCC patients. The accurate, repeatable, and cost-effective quantitative characterization of mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBIs) is crucial for safeguarding the long-term health and performance of high-risk groups, including athletes, emergency responders, and military personnel. Methicillin-resistant (MRSA) can cause cases of community-acquired pneumonia, hospital-acquired pneumonia, and ventilator-associated pneumonia, and nasal colonization with this pathogen increases the risk of infection. Due to its high negative predictive value, multiple studies support using the MRSA nasal polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test to discontinue antimicrobials that target MRSA in the setting of a negative test result. The purpose of this project was to assess the utility of a protocol to allow pharmacists the ability to order MRSA nasal PCR screenings in hospitalized patients with pneumonia.

Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor, ibrutinib, has been shown to synergize with proteasome inhibitors (PIs) in reducing the viability of cells derived from B cell malignancies, but the mechanism is not known. We report here that an off-target effect of ibrutinib causes synergy because not all BTK inhibitors exhibited the synergistic effect, and those that synergized did so even in cells that do not express BTK. The allosteric BTK inhibitor CGI-1746 showed the strongest synergy.

This paper presents a methodological approach for assessing the relationship between weather patterns, regional climate trends, and public perceptions of global warming in the United States with control of socioeconomic, political, and ideological variables. We combined social survey data from the Gallup Poll Social Series (GPSS) with environmental data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the PRISM Climate Group. Logistic regression models were employed, enhanced by Eigenvector Spatial Filtering (ESF) to address spatial autocorrelation.
