Objective: This case series aimed to describe a hemostatic technique that has been applied in patients admitted to emergency department (ED) of a tertiary hospital due to recurrent episodes of intraoral hemorrhage (IOH) after various dentoalveolar operations. The "tie-over" approach involved the intraoral use of Xeroform® gauze (as compressive bolster dressing) and the oral rinsing with a liquid mixture of hemostatic agents.
Materials And Methods: Between February 1, 2014, and July 31, 2017, we retrospectively reviewed the medical data and records of patients in ED who chiefly complained about IOH.

This non-interventional, multicenter, prospective study aimed to evaluate the real-world activity of trabectedin, and its impact on symptom burden and quality of life in patients with advanced soft tissue sarcoma (aSTS) treated in routine clinical settings in Greece. Patients with histologically confirmed aSTS newly initiated on trabectedin were enrolled. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS) rate at 6 months.

Iatrogenic perforation of the lingual cortical plate of the mandible is uncommon but it may result in injuries to various adjacent structures such as the lingual nerve, sublingual gland, submandibular duct, deep lobe of the submandibular gland, and branches of rich anastomosing plexus supplying the floor of the mouth (FOM). The aim of this article was to highlight an unusual case of protracted postoperative bleeding that was occurred due to a FOM injury during an attempt to extract a mandibular second molar. Various anatomical considerations with clinical relevance were summarized too.

A variety of laser/light-based devices have been reported to be effective for the treatment of acne, yet no long-term data on efficacy and safety have been published. A first 12-week clinical trial ("Main trial") recently demonstrated that the KLOX BioPhotonic System, an LED blue light device using photo-converter chromophores, can significantly improve moderate and severe facial acne vulgaris with an excellent safety profile. This Extension trial followed the Main trial, using the same BioPhotonic System, with the same dose and instructions for use, on patients having already completed treatment in the Main trial.

Positive experience with inhaled antibiotics in pulmonary infections of patients with cystic fibrosis has paved the way for their utilization in mechanically ventilated, critically ill patients with lower respiratory tract infections. A successful antibiotic delivery depends upon the size of the generated particle and the elimination of drug impaction in the large airways and the ventilator circuit. Generated droplet size is mainly affected by the type of the nebulizer employed.

Nebulized antibiotics use has become common practice in the therapeutics of pneumonia in cystic fibrosis patients. There is an increasing interest in their use for respiratory infections in mechanically ventilated (MV) patients in order to a) overcome pharmacokinetic issues in the lung compartment with traditional systemic antibiotic use and b) prevent the emergence of multi-drug-resistant (MDR) pathogens. Areas covered: The beneficial effects of antibiotic nebulization in MV patients e.

Background: Although a variety of laser/light-based devices have been reported to be effective for the treatment of acne, long-term data on efficacy and safety in the management of moderate and severe inflammatory acne is lacking. The objective of this 12-week clinical trial was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the KLOX BioPhotonic System, a LED blue light device using specific photo-converter chromophores, in the treatment of moderate to severe acne vulgaris.
Methods: One patient hemiface was randomly selected to receive 6 weeks of treatment (twice weekly) with the LED light and the photo-converter chromophores whereas the contralateral hemiface was not treated with the BioPhotonic System.

Objective: This observational retrospective study aims to present early experience with tigecycline (TIG) in the treatment of infections due to multi-drug resistant (MDR) microorganisms.
Methods: Adult patients included, received TIG for >5 days either as monotherapy (M group) or as presumed active monotherapy (PAM group). In the PAM group, all co-administered antimicrobial(s) were resistant in vitro against the targeted pathogen(s) or had been clinically and microbiologically failing after >or=5 days of therapy despite in vitro susceptibility.
