Background: Postoperative rehabilitation exercise is commonly prescribed after total hip arthroplasty (THA), but its efficacy compared to no or minimal rehabilitation exercise has been questioned. Preliminary efficacy would be indicated if a dose-response relationship exists between performed exercise dose and degree of postoperative recovery. The objective was to evaluate the preliminary efficacy of home-based rehabilitation using elastic band exercise on performance-based function after THA, based on the association between performed exercise dose and change in performance-based function (gait speed) from 3 (start of intervention) to 10 weeks (end of intervention) after surgery.

Background: Thoracic spine postural dysfunctions are common postpartum-related health problems, compromising breastfeeding efficacy and quality of life among women. Previous studies have particularly associated these conditions with increased breast sizes in several populations. However, such empirical evidence is scarce in the Nigerian population.

Alcohol consumption (AC) is a leading risk factor for death, morbidity, and disability worldwide. Gender-specific differences in AC and its moderators, which may serve as markers for preventing severe alcohol use disorders (AUD), showed inconsistent results. Additionally, the impact of COVID-19-related lockdowns on these differences remains unclear.

Background: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a leading contributor to global disability, with exercise proven to be an effective treatment. Tai Chi is a recommended type of exercise, but it is primarily done in person which imposes an accessibility issue. This study aims to evaluate the effects of an online unsupervised program, when provided with online educational information and exercise adherence support, on changes in knee pain and physical function, when compared to online education control for people with knee OA.

Although anxiety is a common psychological condition, its symptoms are related to a cardiopulmonary strain which can cause palpitation, dyspnea, dizziness, and syncope. Severe anxiety can be disabling and lead to cardiac events such as those seen in Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. Since torso stiffness is a stress response to unpredictable situations or unexpected outcomes, studying the biomechanics behind it may provide a better understanding of the pathophysiology of anxiety on circulation, especially on venous impedance.

Background: This study sought to characterize the tipping point values (the functional scores that patients deem dysfunctional enough to warrant surgery) for patients undergoing first revision reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA).
Methods: This study was a retrospective review of a prospectively collected single-institution database of patients undergoing first revision rTSA between August 2015 and December 2019. Tipping point evaluation utilized preoperative scores including the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES), raw and normalized Constant, Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI), Simple Shoulder Test (SST), and University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) scores, and active range of motion including abduction, forward elevation (FE), external rotation (ER), and internal rotation score (IR) prior to elective revision rTSA.

Background: Musculoskeletal (MSK) diseases represent a significant global public health challenge. Conducting comprehensive research on MSK diseases in China holds profound implications for public health.
Methods: This study utilized data from the Global Burden of Disease 2021 (GBD 2021) to analyze the incidence rate, prevalence rate, mortality rate, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), years lived with disability (YLDs), and years of life lost (YLLs) of MSK diseases in China from 1990 to 2021.
Objectives: Joint-preserving interventions, such as intra-articular viscosupplementation injections, are evolving and requiring efficacy and safety evaluations through an evidence-based approach. The objective of this study was to assess the use of a hyaluronic acid and corticosteroid-based injection (Cingal™; Anika Therapeutics, Bedford, MA, USA) in improving pain and functional outcomes for patients aged between 40 and 65 with mild to moderate hip osteoarthritis (OA) six months post-injection.
Methods: This prospective observational study included 100 patients receiving a single ultrasound-guided intra-articular injection of Cingal™.

Although physical activity has been shown to influence physical, social, and emotional well-being, individuals experiencing quadriparesis often lack knowledge of and access to adaptive sporting programs. The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions about wheelchair rugby's impact on community participation and well-being for individuals with quadriparesis and to identify functional barriers to participation. Qualitative semistructured interviews were used to explore the perception of participation in wheelchair rugby on community participation and well-being for adults with quadriparesis.

Background: Bone fractures are a global public health issue and a major source of significant illness and financial hardship. However, to date, there is limited research on patella, tibia or fibula, or ankle fractures (FPTFA) disease burden.
Methods: Using the framework of the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2019, we conducted temporal trends of disease burden, effects of sex and socio-demographic index (SDI) on age standardized prevalence rate (ASPR) and age-period-cohort model.

Purpose: Manual wheelchair users with spinal cord injury (SCI) face challenges in wheelchair skill training (WSTr) due to the complexity of learning advanced skills and limited access to rehabilitation services. This review aims to summarize existing WSTr methods for individuals with SCI/disabilities and propose the use of Augmented Reality (AR)-enhanced Immediate Visual Feedback (ARe-IVF) learning modules for wheelie and curbing skill training.
Methods: The proposed ARe-IVF learning modules will incorporate AR-enhanced visual feedback, allowing users to visualize spatial and temporal aspects of wheelchair skills and assess their performance through computer vision technology.

Background: Proximity to parks has been suggested as a factor influencing physical activity in older adults. However, it remains unclear the optimal distance between residences and parks for promoting physical activity and reducing sedentary time and whether these associations vary by the time of day. We examined whether the proximity to neighbourhood parks at varying distances is associated with all-day and time-specific physical activity and sedentary behaviour in older adults.
