fMRI neurofeedback using autobiographical memory recall to upregulate the amygdala is associated with resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) changes between the amygdala and the salience and default mode networks (SN and DMN, respectively). We hypothesize the existence of anatomical circuits underlying these rsFC changes. Using a cross-species brain parcellation, we identified in non-human primates locations homologous to the regions of interest (ROIs) from studies showing pre-to-post-neurofeedback changes in rsFC with the left amygdala.

This article describes primary data and resources available from the Boston Adolescent Neuroimaging of Depression and Anxiety (BANDA) study, a novel arm of the Human Connectome Project (HCP). Data were collected from 215 adolescents (14-17 years old), 152 of whom had current diagnoses of anxiety and/or depressive disorders at study intake. Data include cross-sectional structural (T1- and T2-weighted), functional (resting state and three tasks), and diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance images.

Background: Transcranial focused ultrasound (tFUS) neuromodulation has shown promise in animals but is challenging to translate to humans because of the thicker skull that heavily scatters ultrasound waves.
Objective: We develop and disseminate a model-based navigation (MBN) tool for acoustic dose delivery in the presence of skull aberrations that is easy to use by non-specialists.
Methods: We pre-compute acoustic beams for thousands of virtual transducer locations on the scalp of the subject under study.

In patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D), BCG vaccinations have been shown in randomized clinical trials to gradually lower blood sugar to near normal levels. This effect appears to be driven by a BCG-induced shift in lymphoid cells' glucose metabolism from oxidative phosphorylation to aerobic glycolysis.

For the human brain to operate, populations of neurons across anatomical structures must coordinate their activity within milliseconds. To date, our understanding of such interactions has remained limited. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is used in tumor growth models to provide information on the infiltration pathways of tumor cells into the surrounding brain tissue. When a patient-specific DTI is not available, a template image such as a DTI atlas can be transformed to the patient anatomy using image registration. This study investigates a model, the invariance under coordinate transform (ICT), that transforms diffusion tensors from a template image to the patient image, based on the principle that the tumor growth process can be mapped, at any point in time, between the images using the same transformation function that we use to map the anatomy.

Background: Brain imaging studies investigating grey matter in functional neurological disorder (FND) have used univariate approaches to report group-level differences compared with healthy controls (HCs). However, these findings have limited translatability because they do not differentiate patients from controls at the individual-level.
Methods: 183 participants were prospectively recruited across three groups: 61 patients with mixed FND (FND-mixed), 61 age-matched and sex-matched HCs and 61 age, sex, depression and anxiety-matched psychiatric controls (PCs).

Advances over the past two decades in functional neuroimaging have provided new diagnostic and prognostic tools for patients with severe brain injury. Some of the most pertinent developments in this area involve the assessment of residual brain function in patients in the intensive care unit during the acute phase of severe injury, when they are at their most vulnerable and prognosis is uncertain. Advanced neuroimaging techniques, such as functional MRI and EEG, have now been used to identify preserved cognitive processing, including covert conscious awareness, and to relate them to outcome in patients who are behaviourally unresponsive.

Brain metastases (BMs) and high-grade gliomas (HGGs) are the most common and aggressive types of malignant brain tumors in adults, with often poor prognosis and short survival. As their clinical symptoms and image appearances on conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be astonishingly similar, their accurate differentiation based solely on clinical and radiological information can be very challenging, particularly for "cancer of unknown primary", where no systemic malignancy is known or found. Non-invasive multiparametric MRI and radiomics offer the potential to identify these distinct biological properties, aiding in the characterization and differentiation of HGGs and BMs.

Severe brain injury impairs consciousness by disrupting a broad spectrum of neurotransmitter systems. Emerging evidence suggests that pharmacologic modulation of specific neurotransmitter systems, such as dopamine, promotes recovery of consciousness. Clinical guidelines now endorse the use of amantadine in individuals with traumatic disorders of consciousness (DoC) based on level 1 evidence, and multiple neurostimulants are used off-label in clinical practice, including methylphenidate, modafinil, bromocriptine, levodopa, and zolpidem.

Numerous methods have been reported for detecting ROS/RNS in vitro and in vivo; however, detecting methods for the secondary products of the reactive oxygen species (ROS)/reactive nitrogen species (RNS) reactions, particularly quasi-stable oxidized products, have been much less explored. Diffuse correlation spectroscopy (DCS) is an optical method that offers non-invasive assessment of blood flow in tissue through the analysis of intensity fluctuations in diffusely backscattered coherent light. The non-invasive nature of the technique has enabled several clinical applications for deep tissue blood flow measurements, including cerebral blood flow monitoring as well as tumor blood flow mapping. While a promising technique, in measurement configurations targeting deep tissue hemodynamics, the standard DCS implementations suffer from insufficient signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), depth sensitivity, and sampling rate, limiting their utility.

Purpose: This study presents the biodistribution, clearance and dosimetry estimates of [Cu]Fibrin Binding Probe #8 ([Cu]FBP8) in healthy subjects.
Procedures: This prospective study included 8 healthy subjects to evaluate biodistribution, safety and dosimetry estimates of [Cu]FBP8, a fibrin-binding positron emission tomography (PET) probe. All subjects underwent up to 3 sessions of PET/Magnetic Resonance Imaging (PET/MRI) 0-2 hours, 4h and 24h post injection.
