Modulation of existing drugs is an attractive strategy to achieve improved activity in cancer therapy by lowering their effective dose. Preparation of relatives has been suggested and explored to improve the therapeutic effect of anticancer agents. In the current study, we attempted to modulate tamoxifen (TMX) by replacing the -phenyl ring in its backbone with an indole or oxindole.

Phenolic compounds in herbs have high antioxidant activities, and their consumption as functional foods may impact human health positively. The main objective of this study was to investigate the total phenolic (TPC) and total flavonoid (TFC) contents as well as total antioxidant capacities (TAC) of bioactive compounds in various infusions prepared by herbs collected from the Bingöl region of Turkey during gastrointestinal digestion. According to the results, while the highest TPC (5836 ± 373 mg GAE/100 g dw), TFC (2301 ± 158 CE/100 g, dw), and TAC (1347 mg TE/100 g dw) were obtained with Mill.

Novel boron-based compounds (BBCs) were synthesized and evaluated as potential candidates for the development of novel drugs against Alzheimer's disease (AD). The neuroprotective profile of novel BBCs was evaluated using Aβ1-42-treated-SH-SY5Y cells while their antioxidant activity was evaluated by total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and total oxidative status (TOS) assays. Results showed that (a novel boron-based hybrid containing an antioxidant portion) inhibited cell death induced by Aβ1-42-exposure in differentiated SH-SY5Y cells, resulting in an increase in cell viability by 25-33% (MTT assay) and by 63-71% (LDH assay) in a concentration range of 25-100 μM.

A method for dummy molecular imprinting-magnetic dispersive solid-phase extraction (MI-MDSPE) coupled with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was developed for the selective determination of aminopyralid in milk. The magnetic material and polymers were combined a series of modifications in FeO. FeO@SiO-NH@MIP, FeO@SiO-COOH@MIP and two types of aminopyralid-specific magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIPs) were prepared on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles modified with amino and carboxyl groups.

BN has important roles in several physiological events, including bone growth and immune system. New infection-free cranioplasty and has an osteogenic activities material that are compatible with tissue are being developed. We aimed in our study to examine whether different combinations of Boron-nitride/Hydroxyapatite are embedded into the scaffold in the treatment of calvarial defects.

The removal of basic violet 10 (BV10), which is known as a cationic dye, from aqueous solution was studied by employing a heterogeneous sono-Fenton process over the nano-sized magnetite (FeO) which had been prepared by the milling of magnetite mineral using a high-energy planetary ball milling process. The magnetite samples were characterized using the X-ray diffraction (XRD), high resolution scanning electron microscopy (HR-SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and inductively couple plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS). It was found that the catalytic activity of the ball-milled magnetite sample was enhanced along with the improvement in its physicochemical properties; also, the ball-milled magnetite of 6 h displayed the highest catalytic activity in BV10 removal by the heterogeneous sono-Fenton process as compared with that for 4 h (66.
