In the current study, starting from 4-methoxyaniline, four Schiff bases were synthesized from benzaldehydes with Br and OMe. Corresponding N-benzylanilines and their derivatives were obtained from reductions (by NaBH ) and substitutions (by acyl and tosyl chlorides) of these bases, respectively. The inhibitory effects of the sixteen compounds, twelve of which were novel compounds are examined.

Appl Radiat Isot

November 2021

Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University, Atatürk Vocational School of Health Service, Department of Medical Imaging Techniques, 03200, Afyonkarahisar, Turkey. Electronic address:

In this study, total mass attenuation coefficient (μ/ρ) values in the energy range from 60 keV to 15 MeV for some contrast agents (Iopamidol, Metrizamide, Iohexol, Ioxaglic acid, Iopromide, Ioversol and Iopentol) were determined with the WinXCOM computer program and GEANT4 computer simulation code. Linear attenuation coefficients (μ), half value layers (HVL), tenth value layers (TVL), mean free paths (mfp), effective atomic numbers (Z) and effective electron densities (N) in the aforementioned energy range were obtained with the help of the calculated total mass attenuation coefficients. Energy absorption build-up factors (EABF) and exposure build-up factors (EBF) for contrast agents were calculated using the five-parameter geometric progression (G-P) fitting method in the energy region of 0.

This study aimed to investigate the possible neuroprotective effects of bitter melon (BM), chard, and parsley extracts on oxidative damage that may occur in the brain of rats with bile duct ligation (BDL)-induced biliary cirrhosis. It was observed that lipid peroxidation (LPO), sialic acid (SA), and nitric oxide (NO) levels increased; glutathione (GSH) levels, catalase (CAT) activity, and tissue factor (TF) activity decreased significantly in the BDL group. However, in groups with BDL given BM, chard, and parsley extracts LPO, SA, NO levels decreased; GSH levels and CAT activities increased significantly.

A new analyte separation and preconcentration method for the trace determination of antidepressant drugs, Fluoxetine (FLU) and Citalopram (CIT) in urine and wastewaters, was developed based on HPLC-DAD analysis after magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE). In the proposed method, FLU and CIT were retained on the newly synthetized magnetic sorbent (FeO@PPy-GO) in the presence of buffer (pH 10.0) and then were desorbed into a lower volume of acetonitrile prior to the chromatographic determinations.

October 2018

Department of Animal Nutrition and Nutritional Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kirikkale University, 71450, Kirikkale, Turkey.

Islet cell transplantation is a major treatment strategy for type I diabetes, and has proven to be effective for maintaining glucose homeostasis. However, this treatment requires an extended period of immunosuppression to prevent rejection and recurrent transplantation to maintain function. Thus, to enhance the properties of transplanted islet cells, we examined the effect of the co-culture of luteal cells, which secrete progesterone, on islet cell viability, functionality, and revascularization.
