The FINEARTS-HF trial is comparing the effects of the non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist finerenone with placebo in reducing cardiovascular death and total worsening HF events in patients with HFmrEF/HFpEF.

Methods And Results: Patients with symptomatic HF, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≥40%, estimated glomerular filtration rate ≥ 25 ml/min/1.

A New Perspective on the Effectiveness of FDG PET/CT in Predicting KRAS Mutation in Colon Cancer Cases.

The main aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computerized tomography (PET/CT) parameters in predicting the Kristen rat sarcoma viral oncogene() mutation status of patients with colon cancer. Between April 2013 and December 2020, 79 patients who were diagnosed with colon cancer by colonoscopy underwent staging FDG PET/CT with this diagnosis and met all the inclusion criteria were included in this study. Clinical and prognostic features and also imaging (FDG PET/CT and magnetic resonance imaging) reports of the patients were collected and analyzed retrospectively.

Immunohistochemical Approach to Mismatch Repair Deficiency in Pediatric High-Grade Glioma.

Knowledge of the molecular pathways of pediatric high-grade gliomas is increasing. Gliomas with mismatch repair deficiency do not currently comprise a distinct group, but data on this topic have been accumulating in recent publications. Immunohistochemistry can effectively determine mismatch repair status, indirectly suggesting the microsatellite instability of the tumor.

The Clinical Management of Intrascrotal Extratesticular Masses With Evaluation of Histopathologic Findings.

Objective: To contribute to the literature by sharing the clinical presentation, surgical approach, postoperative complications management, and follow-up protocols of the patients we operated on due to intrascrotal extratesticular mass.

Methods: Thirty-two patients admitted due to intrascrotal extratesticular mass were included in the study. Demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients such as age, initial clinical presentation, physical examination, radiological imaging findings, such as scrotal Doppler ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging, mass size, and characteristics, surgical treatment procedures, operation notes, and patient follow-up visits were retrospectively examined and evaluated from the patient files.

Risk factors and prognostic significance of early postoperative complications for patients who underwent pneumonectomy for lung cancer.

Background: Although pneumonectomy has relatively high mortality and morbidity rates, it remains valid in the surgical treatment of lung cancer. This study aims to evaluate the prognostic significance of postoperative complications after pneumonectomy and demonstrate the risk factors related to early postoperative complications.

Methods: Patients who underwent pneumonectomy for non-small cell lung cancer between January 2008 and May 2021 were included in the study.

Best practice guidelines on genetic diagnostics of facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy: Update of the 2012 guidelines.

The gold standard for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) genetic diagnostic procedures was published in 2012. With the increasing complexity of the genetics of FSHD1 and 2, the increase of genetic testing centers, and the start of clinical trials for FSHD, it is crucial to provide an update on our knowledge of the genetic features of the FSHD loci and renew the international consensus on the molecular testing recommendations. To this end, members of the FSHD European Trial Network summarized the evidence presented during the 2022 ENMC meeting on Genetic diagnosis, clinical outcome measures, and biomarkers.

Background: Since the amendments to the Baden-Württemberg Psychiatric Assistance Act, psychiatric patients who are treated involuntarily can be admitted to open wards. As a result, a comprehensive research project was carried out to implement an open-door policy. This work evaluates the attitudes of patients and therapeutic teams.

Initial handgrip strength as a predictive factor for amputation risk in diabetic foot patients.

Micro-RNA-371a-3p in Germ Cell Testicular Tumors on Diagnosis: A Prospective Case-Control Study in Turkish Population.

Purpose: We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of the miRNA-371a-3p for the primary diagnosis of germ cell tumors (GCT) and to investigate its relationship with pathological factors and clinical stage in the Turkish population.

Materials And Methods: In this prospective study, a total of 60 patients with GCTs, and 40 healthy male controls were examined for serum levels of miRNA-371a-3p before orchiectomy and again two weeks after surgery. The miRNA-371a-3p, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), and beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (bHCG) levels in the preoperative and postoperative periods were compared at different clinical stages.

Objective: The prevalence of post-COVID headaches is not low. The eye can be affected by this infection, but it is not clear yet what the relationship is between persistent headaches and the thickness of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) after COVID-19 infection this study aims to investigate the relationship between these subjects.

Methods: In this retrospective study, in patients who have had a persistent headache, SD-OCT analysis of RNFL was obtained, and RNLF thickness values before and after COVID-19 infection were analyzed.

Evaluation of the Patients with the Diagnosis of Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia: A Multicenter National Study.

Objectives: The reliability of manual pulse checks has been questioned but is still recommended in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) guidelines. The aim is to compare the 10-s carotid pulse check (CPC) between heart massage cycles with the continuous femoral pulse check (CoFe PuC) in CPR, and to propose a better location to shorten the interruption times for pulse check.

Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 117 Non-traumatic CPR patients between January 2020 and January 2022.

Healthcare Access Worsened for Women in Precarious Housing During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Qualitative Study.

This research aims to gain an in-depth understanding of precariously housed women's experiences related to health and access to health care during the COVID-19 pandemic using a grounded theory approach. Qualitative data were obtained through interviews with 17 precariously housed women from Izmir, Turkey. Poor health among most participants was primarily attributed to unfavorable living conditions and weakened community networks.

Apaydin Classification of Spreader Flaps Updated.

The use of spreader flaps (SFs) is very helpful in middle vault reconstruction. The aim of the study was to evaluate the versatility of Apaydin classification of SFs on a patient population. This was a retrospective analysis which included 120 rhinoplasty cases.

Geriatric cutaneous leishmaniasis: a retrospective analysis of 622 cases.

Background: Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is most common in childhood because children are exposed to the parasite early and, unlike adults, do not have immunity to CL. Since CL is less common in geriatric patients, clinical and epidemiological data in this age group are limited. This study aims to compare the clinical and demographic characteristics of geriatric patients diagnosed with CL with young patients.
