Background: ALD is a rare X-linked peroxisomal metabolic disorder with many distinct phenotypes of disease that emerge on a wide scale from adrenal insufficiency to fatal cALD which progresses to a vegetative state within a few years. Currently, HSCT is the only treatment method known to stabilize disease progression in patients with cALD. In this study, we aim to report our HSCT experience in patients with cALD and the factors that determine the success of HSCT, as a single-center experience.

Previous studies have shown that, oxytocin has anticonvulsant and neuroprotective effects. One of the most important complications of Hypercapnic-hypoxia is drug resistance epilepsy. Effects of chronic intraperitoneal oxytocin treatment on gliosis, neuroinflammation and seizure activity was investigated in a model in which rats were exposed to hypoxia on postnatal day 1 and later challenged to the seizure-inducing pentylenetetrazol Forty pups were included in the study on their first day of birth.

During epidemics or pandemics affecting the respiratory systems, hospital equipment such as ventilators may become insufficient and different solutions can be considered. In fast spreading respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19 due to the rapidly increasing number of patients, ventilatory machine insufficiencies may appear. It may be considered to use one hospital ventilator for more than one patient by dividing the airway of the machine with a specially designed splitter.

Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is commonly used as an anti-inflammatory, anti-pyretic, and analgesic. Although some studies have focused on the anti-inflammatory and anti-pyretic properties of ibuprofen during febrile convulsions, only one has investigated its antiepileptic effects. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the effects of ibuprofen in rats exposed to pentylenetetrazol (PTZ)-induced seizures.

Introduction: In an attempt to identify a wide spectrum of viral infections, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) specimens were collected from pediatric cases with the preliminary diagnosis of viral encephalitis/meningoencephalitis in two reference hospitals, from October 2011 to December 2015.
Methodology: A combination of nucleic acid-based assays, including in house generic polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays for enteroviruses, flaviviruses and phleboviruses, a commercial real-time PCR assay for herpesviruses and a commercial real time multiplex PCR, enabling detection of frequently-observed viral, bacterial and fungal agents were employed for screening.
Results: The microbial agent could be characterized in 10 (10%) of the 100 specimens.

The ability of the brain to reduce the amount of trivial or redundant sensory inputs is called gating function. Dysfunction of sensory gating may lead to cognitive fragmentation and poor real-world functioning. The auditory dual-click paradigm is a pertinent neurophysiological measure of sensory gating function.
