New benzimidazole-indole-amide derivatives as potent α-glucosidase and acetylcholinesterase inhibitors.

New derivatives 6a-m with benzimidazole-indole-amide scaffold were developed, synthesized, and assessed for potential inhibitory effects on α-glucosidase and acetylcholinesterase (AChE). These compounds were synthesized by various amine derivatives. With the exception of two compounds, the α-glucosidase inhibitory activities of the title derivatives were more than that of the positive control acarbose.

Enhancing nutritional care in palliative care units: assessing nurse knowledge and quality perception in enteral nutrition practices.

Background: Adequate, balanced, and individualized nutrition, planned according to the patients' life expectancy in palliative care units, is crucial for maintaining essential functions.

Aim: To determine the knowledge levels of nurses working in palliative care units regarding enteral nutrition practices and their perceptions of nutritional care quality in their units.

Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted in 25 palliative care units located in Izmir, Türkiye, between June and September 2022.

Synthesis and use of new magnetic adsorbent for sensitive, practical and simultaneous analysis Ibuprofen and Ketoprofen molecules in urine samples.

A new sample preparation and determination method, including HPLC-DAD analysis after Magnetic Solid Phase Extraction (MSPE), was developed to monitor the trace amounts of two types of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), Ibuprofen (IBP) and Ketoprofen (KP). In the proposed method, IBP and KP analytes were extracted from newly synthesized magnetic-based sorbent in a pH 4.0 buffer medium and enriched by desorbing again with ethanol to a smaller volume before chromatographic determinations.

Evaluation of the Effect of Precursor NMC622@TiO Core-Shell Powders Using a Prelithiated Anode from Fig Seeds: Spotlight on Li-ion Full-Cell Performance.

In this study, innovative electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) were developed and characterized, demonstrating significant performance enhancements. Initially, NMC622@TiO was synthesized using a wet-chemical method with titanium(IV) ethoxide as the Ti source. Advanced structural investigations confirmed the successful formation of a core@shell structure with negligible cation mixing (Li/Ni) at the NMC622 surface, contributing to enhanced electrochemical performance.

The Effect of Peripheral Neuropathy on Disability and Anxiety.

One of the most common problems in individuals receiving neurotoxic chemotherapy is neuropathy. The study aimed to evaluate the peripheral neuropathy and the relationship between neuropathy, disability, and anxiety in patients receiving neurotoxic chemotherapy. The sample of the study consisted of individuals with cancer in the chemotherapy unit of a city hospital between March and July 2021.

Determination of complementary and alternative medicine use frequency and related factors in children with epilepsy: A descriptive Cross-Sectional study from eastern Turkey.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to determine the complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) methods used in epilepsy patients admitted to a paediatric neurology clinic in Turkey and to examine the factors affecting these methods.

Methods: This study was conducted between October 2022 and March 2023 by using a questionnaire form prepared in line with the literature to the parents (n = 172) of children who were under the age of 18 and who had been diagnosed with epilepsy for at least 1 year and who were followed up in the paediatric neurology outpatient clinic of a secondary care hospital in Van province of Turkey. The principles of scientific ethics and confidentiality of data were complied with in all stages of the study.

The relationship between the new inflammatory markers and disease severity in patients with acute coronary syndrome.

Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the SYNTAX score and new inflammatory markers including albumin-globulin ratio (AGR), C-reactive protein-to-albumin ratio (CAR), fibrinogen-to-albumin ratio (FAR), neutrophil-to-albumin ratio (NAR), and neutrophil percentage-to-albumin ratio (NPAR) in STEMI and NSTEMI patients.

Methods: The study involved 53 STEMI and 64 NSTEMI patients, and each patient group was evaluated separately.

Comparison of Thyroid Uptake Values Measured from 131I Scintigraphy and Uptake Probe in Hyperthyroid Patients.

Objective: Thyroid uptake test plays an important role in diagnosis, treatment planning and radioiodine dose determination in patients with hyperthyroidism. The aim of this study was to compare the % uptake values calculated with gamma camera and uptake probe after diagnostic 131I application in hyperthyroid patients.

Materials And Methods: In this study, % uptake values were measured using a thyroid uptake probe and gamma camera in 32 patients who underwent thyroid radioiodine uptake measurement in our Nuclear Medicine center.

Introduction: Since the Syrian Civil War began in 2011, the official number of refugees under temporary protection in Turkiye is reported to be 3,522,036 in 2023. Most of the Syrians living outside the refugee camps have worse conditions in terms of access to healthcare centers and social opportunities, compared to those living in camps. Biological and computational evaluation of novel benzofuranyl derivatives as acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase inhibitors.

A highly efficient one-step method has been developed for the synthesis of benzofuranyl derivatives from 2-benzoylcyclohexane-1-carboxylic acid derivatives using chlorosulfonyl isocyanate. This novel method provides a practical, cost-effective and efficient approach. The inhibitory effects of benzofuranyl derivatives on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) enzymes were investigated.

Background: Several studies have evaluated the effects of zinc supplementation on glycemic biomarkers in humans and have demonstrated varying results. Application of fiber loop ringdown spectroscopy technique for a new approach to beta-amyloid monitoring for Alzheimer Disease's early detection.

A novel fiber optic biosensor was purposed for a new approach to monitor amyloid beta protein fragment 1-42 (A42) for Alzheimer's Disease (AD) early detection. The sensor was fabricated by etching a part of fiber from single mode fiber loop in pure hydrofluoric acid solution and utilized as a Local Optical Refractometer (LOR) to monitor the change A42 concentration in Artificial Cerebrospinal Fluid (ACSF). The Fiber Loop Ringdown Spectroscopy (FLRDS) technique is an ultra-sensitive measurement technique with low-cost, high sensitivity, real-time measurement, continuous measurement and portability features that was utilized with a fiber optic sensor for the first time for the detection of a biological signature in an ACSF environment.

Titania-based fabric phase sorptive extraction approach for the determination of antiepileptic drugs, levetiracetam and lamotrigine in urine samples using high-performance liquid chromatography-photo diode array detection.

A new fabric phase sorptive extraction (FPSE) based separation and enrichment method was developed for sensitive determination of two antiepileptic drug molecules, Levetiracetam (LEV) and Lamotrigine (LTG). The analysis of these drug molecules was performed with high-performance liquid chromatography equipped with photodiode array detector (HPLC-PDA) after FPSE. HPLC analysis was carried out by using phenyl hexyl column, under isocratic conditions with the mobile phase composed of pH 3.

This report presents the synthesis and characterization of a range of benzimidazolium salts featuring 3-cyanopropyl groups on the 1 nitrogen atom and varied alkyl groups on the 3 nitrogen atom within the benzimidazole structure. Benzimidazolium salts were synthesized by N-alkylation of 1-alkyl benzimidazole with 3-cyanopropyl-bromide. The new salts were characterized by H and C-NMR, FT-IR spectroscopic and elemental analysis techniques.

New palladium complexes with N-heterocyclic carbene and morpholine ligands: Synthesis, characterization, crystal structure, molecular docking, and biological activities.

This work includes the synthesis of a new series of palladium-based complexes containing both morpholine and N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands. The new complexes were characterized using NMR ( H and C), FTIR spectroscopic, and elemental analysis techniques. The crystal structure of complex 1b was obtained by utilizing the single-crystal X-ray diffraction method.
