Pomegranate is one of the most popular fruits worldwide, and it is important to maintain the overall quality and bioaccessibility of freshly squeezed pomegranate juices (PJS). The adverse effects of heat treatment on sensory properties and phytochemicals encourage the use of non-thermal processes in the juice industry. Hereby, the effects of high-pressure homogenization (HPH) (50, 100, and 150 MPa) on the physicochemical properties, antimicrobial activity, in vitro bioaccessibility, and antioxidant capacity of freshly-squeezed PJS from different genotypes were investigated.

It was aimed to examine the antioxidant, phenolic profile, and volatile compound contents of seven different aromatic plant samples (broccoli, yarpuz, walnut leaves, marshmallow, wild clary, harmala, and common yarrow) collected from Adilcevaz district of Bitlis province in Türkiye. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) device was used for the volatile profile of the plant varieties. The most abundant volatile compounds were generally heptacosane compound that showed anticancer and antimicrobial effects.

The samples obtained are characterized in terms of morphology, composition, optical, and magnetic properties using TEM, SEM-EDS, XRD, FTIR, VSM, XPS, and UV-vis, and the photodegradation of Acid Blue 161 dye under UV irradiation is investigated. As a result of SEM and TEM analyses, the diameters of FeO, FeO@SiO, FeO@SiO@ZnO, and FeO@SiO@ZnO-Ag composites are determined as 210, 220, 230 and 235 nm, respectively.

The study's aim was to determine the effect of using sheep tail fat (STF) on carboxymethyl-lysine (CML) content and other properties of heat-treated sucuk (HTS), a type of semi-dry fermented sausage. Three mixtures were prepared: 100% beef fat (BF), 50% BF + 50% STF, and 100% STF. After production (fermentation, heat treatment, and drying), the samples were cooked at 180°C for 0, 1, 3, and 5 min to determine the effect of cooking time on CML, thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS), total sulfhydryl, and carbonyl contents.

Here, GA-TiO-Cd is investigated as a photocatalyst for the degradation of toxic dyes named Orange G, Acid Blue 161, and Brilliant Green in the UV part of the light spectrum. As a result of the experiments, it is observed that the effective decomposition of organic dyes is due to graphene aerogel (GA) and cadmium-doped TiO nanoparticles.

In this study, combining the thiazole and cinnamoyl groups into the styryl-thiazole scaffold, a series of novel styryl-thiazole hybrids (6a-p) was rationally designed, synthesized, and evaluated by the multi-target-directed ligands strategy as potential candidates for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Hybrids 6e and 6i are the most promising among the synthesized hybrids since they are able to significantly increase cell viabilities in Aβ-exposed-human neuroblastoma cell line (6i at the concentration of 50 μg mL and 6e at the concentration of 25 μg mL resulted in ∼34% and ∼30% increase in cell viabilities, respectively). Compounds 6e and 6i exhibit highly AChE inhibitory properties in the experimental AD model at 375.
