Heat-related illnesses include a spectrum of disorders ranging from heat syncope, muscle cramps, and heat exhaustion to heat emergencies such as heatstroke. Severe heatwaves can lead to extremely high environmental temperatures and a spurt of cases of heat-related illnesses and heatstroke. The incidence of such heat-related medical emergencies was much higher in 2024 compared to previous years throughout North and Central India.

Castleman disease (CD) is a rare, benign lymphoproliferative disorder, mostly involving the mediastinal lymph nodes, but can occur wherever lymphoid tissue is found. With only a few published case reports, there needs to be more literature on its cytological findings. We report the case of a 63-year-old female presenting with left upper cervical swelling.

The present study explores the association between linear growth and neurobehavioral outcome in preterm (<34 weeks) when evaluated by NAPI score (Neurobehavioral Assessment of Preterm Infants) at term gestational age (GA). 80 preterm neonates were enrolled for this study and divided into two groups based on the increase in length/week at term corrected gestational age (CGA). Anthropometric parameters were calculated at various time points of study and scores were calculated.

Aortic dissection (AD) is a catastrophic life-threatening cardiovascular emergency with a 1-2% per hour mortality rate post-diagnosis, characterized physiologically by the separation of aortic wall layers. AD initially presents as intense pain that can then radiate to the back, arms, neck, or jaw along with neurological deficits like difficulty in speaking, and unilateral weakness in some patients. This spectrum of clinical features associated with AD is often confused with acute myocardial infarction, hence leading to a delay in AD diagnosis.

Acute pancreatitis is seen in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) as a result of antiretroviral drug therapy and hypertriglyceridemia. Thrombotic complications are known in patients of HIV as a result of endothelial dysfunction, and right-sided infective endocarditis (IE) is seen in HIV patients mostly due to intravenous (IV) drug abuse. However, the occurrence of acute pancreatitis with sepsis, IE, and bilateral thromboembolism in the same patient is rare.

Interleukin-33 (IL-33), belonging to the interleukin-1 cytokine family, has a decoy receptor soluble ST2 (sST2). IL-33 is found in oligodendrocytes and astrocytes and is involved in central nervous system healing and repair, whereas ST2 is found in microglia and astrocytes. Some studies have found a link between changes in the IL-33/ST2 pathway and neurodegenerative disorders.

Objective In today's era of highly methodological oncological practices in place, we have a huge database to regulate, and it is foreseeable that a humongous load of information is ahead of us that we need to organize and comprehend. With the advancement in surgical equipment and evolving procedures, we need to store the information in a transferrable, understandable, and systematic way to prevent any ebb in the future. The systematic recording of operative data is even more important for patient management, training, and research.

Objective: New-onset atrial fibrillation (NOAF), an important postoperative complication, has pertinent inflammatory links. Motivated by the encouraging literature on the prognostic role of hypoalbuminemia, leukocytic indices [LIs: neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR)], systemic inflammation response index (SIRI=NLR×monocyte) and platelet-leukocytic indices [PLIs: platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR)], systemic immune inflammation index (SII=NLR×platelet), aggregate index of systemic inflammation (AISI=NLR×platelet×monocyte), we sought to investigate the NOAF-predictive value of preoperative albumin-adjusted indices (aa-LIs and aa-PLIs) in an off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) setting.

Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders among the older population. Sleep disruption and circadian rhythm disorders often develop in AD patients, and many experience sleeping difficulties requiring pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
Areas Covered: This review appraised the evidence from clinical studies on various pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies for sleep disturbances in AD patients and proposed an algorithm to manage sleep disturbances in this population of patients.

Background: Dermatophytosis has gained significant importance in recent years owing to increased incidence, more atypical lesions, changing mycological profile and growing antifungal resistance. Therefore, this study was planned to know the clinicomycological profile of dermatophytic infections in patients attending our tertiary care centre.
Materials And Methods: A total of 700 patients with superficial fungal infections belonging to all age groups and both sexes were taken up for this cross-sectional study.

Introduction: Suction cannula (SC) is an important instrument for a neurosurgeon. Currently used suction control valves, kept in the sterile field, are controlled by the surgeon, for which he needs to leave the surgical dissection or by assistant or by operation room personnel to adjust the pressure of the equipment (suction machine or central suction), which lies in the unsterile field. Authors studied relationships of the different diameters of SC and the thumb hole (TH) of the SC and present their findings.

Background: The study investigated the psychometric properties of the Community, Assessment of Psychic Experiences (CAPE-42), a self-report instrument in Indians.
Method: CAPE-42 was translated in Hindi and tested on 312 Indian adults recruited online and through paper-pencil assessment. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was employed to establish the factor structure of the positive, negative and depressive dimensions of CAPE-42: the bifactor model was tested to evaluate whether items converge into a major single factor defining psychotic-proneness in individuals.

Background & Objectives: Activation of renin-angiotensin system and tubulointerstitial damage might be seen in pre-albuminuria stage of diabetic nephropathy (DN). Here, diagnostic utility of four urinary biomarkers [Angiotensinogen (Angio), Interleukin (IL)-18, Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) and Cystatin] during pre-albuminuria stages of non-hypertensive type 2 diabetes patients was studied.
Methods: A total of 952 type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients were screened for nephropathy [estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) ≥120 ml/min and albumin-creatinine ratio (ACR) ≥30], and 120 patients were followed up for one year.

Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and spatially resolved transcriptomics (SRT) have experienced rapid development in recent years. The findings of spaceflight-based scRNA-seq and SRT investigations are likely to improve our understanding of life in space and our comprehension of gene expression in various cell systems and tissue dynamics. However, compared to their Earth-based counterparts, gene expression experiments conducted in spaceflight have not experienced the same pace of development.
