Background And Aim: The optimal strategy for the management of postoperative pain after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) remains challenging, while its treatment is crucial to increase patients' outcomes. This study aimed to investigate the effects of parecoxib as add-on therapy, in a standard postoperative pain management protocol, represented by the continuous femoral nervous block. We present a case of a 75-year-old woman who admitted in the internal medicine department for a recent onset of persisting moderate daily fever and fatigue that started 30 days prior to her hospitalization. Her past medical history is remarkable for mild pulmonary fibrosis, megaloblastic anaemia, and hypergammaglobulinaemia of no obvious causes. On presentation, she was febrile (38°C) and had high ESR and CRP levels, but most of her laboratory tests were within normal levels and had no signs of arthritis or rash.

Background: Simultaneous compression of the median and ulnar nerve at the elbow region has not been sufficiently highlighted in the literature. The purposes of the present study are to report our experience regarding this entity, to elucidate the clinical features, and to describe the operative technique and findings as well as the results of simultaneous decompression performed through the same medial incision.

Methods: We performed a retrospective study of thirteen elbows in thirteen patients -nine men and four women- with simultaneous compression of the median and ulnar nerve at the elbow region between 2000 and 2011.

Background: In order to introduce new pharmacological agents with the intent to inhibit the adhesion formation, it is important to test such products on laboratory animals under a protocol that can evaluate the quantitative and qualitative aspects of healing of the tendons. Most experimental models focus on the tensile strength and histological analysis of the tendons, failing to sufficiently quantify the degree of the adhesion formation.

Methods: The experiment included six male New Zealand rabbits that underwent surgery of their right forepaws.

The liver is the second most frequently injured solid organ in patients with blunt abdominal trauma. Hence the diagnosis and clinical assessment of hepatic trauma is of great importance because of the relationship of the liver to high morbidity and mortality. Multi detector-row computed tomography is the main diagnostic modality for the examination of hepatic parenchyma and other associated organ injuries, such as acute or delayed complications.

Background: Minimal invasive techniques represent a constantly expanding field of medicine and numerous well-established operative procedures have gradually been replaced. Likewise, surgical pancreatic sphincteroplasty, which has been the cornerstone in the management of pancreatic flow disorders for decades, has been largely replaced by endoscopy. Endoscopic pancreatic sphincterotomy however, is still not widespread and carries a significant risk of complications.
