Painful os peroneum syndrome (POPS) is one of the uncommon causes of lateral foot pain in orthopaedic practice. POPS encompasses a spectrum of pathologies such as an acute or a chronic fracture, peroneus longus tenosynovitis, and attrition or partial rupture of the peroneus longus tendon. Herein, we reported the first case of POPS secondary to hydroxyapatite deposition disease in a 32-year-old female patient.

Background And Aims: Muscle disorders in cirrhosis are associated with poor outcome and need early identification. Anthropometric measures lack sensitivity, and CT-based L3-skeletal muscle Index (L3-SMI) may miss early sarcopenia. The study aimed to find if SM-RA can identify more patients with muscle disorder than L3-SMI and anthropometry.

The management of a patient in the peri-transplantation period is highly challenging, and it is even more difficult while the patient is on the transplantation waitlist. Keeping the patient alive during this period involves managing the complications of liver disease and preventing the disease's progression. Based on the pre-transplantation etiology and type of liver failure, there is a difference in the management protocol.

Background: Although the preferred management approach for patients with infected necrotising pancreatitis is endoscopic transluminal stenting followed by endoscopic necrosectomy as step-up treatment if there is no clinical improvement, the optimal timing of necrosectomy is unclear. Therefore, we aimed to compare outcomes between performing upfront necrosectomy at the index intervention versus as a step-up measure in patients with infected necrotising pancreatitis.
Methods: This single-blinded, multicentre, randomised trial (DESTIN) was done at six tertiary care hospitals (five hospitals in the USA and one hospital in India).

Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of acute invasive fungal rhinosinusitis (AIFRS) at presentation and on follow-up imaging when patients receive treatment with systemic antifungal therapy and surgical debridement.
Material And Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of imaging data from a cohort of patients diagnosed with AIFRS during the second wave of COVID-19 in single tertiary referral hospital in South India between March 2021 and May 2021 ( = 68). Final diagnosis was made using a composite reference standard which included a combination of MRI findings, clinical presentation, nasal endoscopy and intraoperative findings, and laboratory proof of invasive fungal infection.

Introduction: Device-assisted enteroscopy has revolutionized the management of small-bowel disorders (SBD). No study to date has compared both novel motorized spiral enteroscopy (NMSE) and single-balloon enteroscopy (SBE) as a randomized controlled trial. Hence, this study was planned to include patients having SBD with the primary aim to compare the total enteroscopy rate (TER).

Cancer treatments with targeted therapy have gained immense interest due to their low levels of toxicity and high selectivity. Proteolysis-Targeting Chimeras (PROTACs) have drawn special attention in the development of cancer therapeutics owing to their unique mechanism of action, their ability to target undruggable proteins, and their focused target engagement. PROTACs selectively degrade the target protein through the ubiquitin-proteasome system, which describes a different mode of action compared to conventional small-molecule inhibitors or even antibodies.

The extended use of ethambutol beyond 2 months for treating tuberculosis has increased risk of optic neuropathy. We performed a systematic review of studies evaluating optic neuropathy in extended ethambutol use since 2010 and compared the outcome with a similar systematic review (1965-2010) by Ezer et al. Literature search was conducted in PubMed, Medline, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases.

Peripheral ulcerative keratitis (PUK) is an inflammatory, necrotic condition in the peripheral cornea which may end in corneal perforation and visual morbidity if not treated adequately. PUK can occur due to infectious or non-infectious causes. Early cases need medical therapy, both locally and systemically (for some cases).

Introduction: Tofacitinib has emerged as a useful drug for the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC).
Areas Covered: There is an unmet need for cost-effective, non-immunogenic drugs with a safe adverse effect profile to treat patients with ulcerative colitis. In the present review, we evaluate the available literature to inform the appropriate positioning of tofacitinib in the current drug landscape and identify subsets where its use should be done with caution.

Cyproterone acetate (CPA), a hydroxyprogesterone derivative, is used to treat advanced prostate cancer and infrequently in women for acne, breast cancer and hirsutism. Transient mild elevation in levels of liver enzymes is reported in 10-30% of patients, and acute liver failure (ALF) is uncommon. Here, we discuss the first case of CPA-induced ALF from India and the available literature.

Many safe and effective severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccinations dramatically reduce risks of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) complications and deaths. We aimed to describe cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection among patients with chronic liver disease (CLD) and liver transplant (LT) recipients with at least one prior COVID-19 vaccine dose. The SECURE-Liver and COVID-Hep international reporting registries were used to identify laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 in CLD and LT patients who received a COVID-19 vaccination.

Background And Objectives: During Corona Virus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic, it has been estimated that approximately 10% of health care professionals (HCPs) have been diagnosed contacting COVID-19. Aerosol-generating procedures have led to change in safety practices among HCPs. We thus evaluated the efficacy of the endoscopic safety measures among HCPs posted in the endoscopy unit.
