VS4 has emerged as a promising cathode material for aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs), attracting significant interest due to its unique layered atomic chain structure and high capacity. However, the low electrical conductivity of the material limits the diffusion rate of zinc ions, ultimately compromising its structural stability. In this study, we demonstrate the synthesis of nanorods through a simple hydrothermal recombination of carbon dots on vanadium sulfide.

Potassium phosphate-promoted cross-cyclotetramerization of 2,6-dichloro-3-nitropyridine 1 with resorcinol derivatives 2 gave rise to thermodynamically favored 1,3-alternate tetraoxacalix[2]arene[2]pyridines and kinetically controlled 1,2-alternate isomers. The kinetic product could convert into its 1,3-alternate conformational isomer by a macrocycle to macrocycle conversion pathway. Enantiomerically enriched C2-symmetric inherently chiral tetraoxacalix[2]arene[2]pyridines were synthesized via a Cinchonine-derived chiral phase-transfer catalyst (PTC).

Dithienylethenes (DTE) are a rare class of photoswitches, which are capable of undergoing a fast photochemical cyclization leading to increased aromaticity of the closed isomer. At the same time in most of the tautomeric compounds the tautomeric state is strongly affected by the change in the aromaticity of the involved aromatic rings. Very recently it has been shown that the implementation of DTE moiety in salicylideneaniline leads to switching of the stable open form enol tautomer to thermodynamically stable keto tautomer upon cyclization.

In order to explore a strategy for synthesizing halogen-bonded metal-organic cocrystals by utilizing metal complexes whose pendant chloride group and the morpholinyl oxygen atom enables halogen bonding, we have synthesized four pentacoordinated Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of the MCl2L general formula (L=imines prepared by the condensation reaction of 4-aminoethylmorpholine with 2-pyridinecarboxyaldehide or 2-acetylpyridine). The prepared metal complexes were further cocrystallized with selected iodoperfluorinated benzenes. Out of 20 combinations, 14 experiments yielded crystals suitable for single-crystal X-ray diffraction.

MXene, a two-dimensional nanomaterial, has metal conductivity, high electronegativity, functionalized with surface groups, which makes them has wide applications in catalysis and biosensing. However, studies on the principle of enhanced electro-chemiluminescence (ECL) by MXene composites and the improvement of their performance in catalyzing the ECL reaction are still in their infancy. In this study, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are obtained by mild reductive reduction and loaded in situ on the Ti3C2Tx MXene surface to form the composites (AuNPs@MXene).

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a new type of porous organic crystalline material, which have become an emerging platform for promoting the development of green energy technology due to their high surface area, adjustable pores, low skeleton density, and easy functionalization. In recent years, with the continuous advancement of synthesis technology, the synthesis efficiency and sustainability of COFs have been significantly improved, from traditional solvothermal methods to the emergence of various green synthesis strategies such as ion thermal, mechanochemical, and ultrasound assisted methods. This article reviews the main synthesis methods of COFs and explores their applications in the field of green energy, such as photocatalysis, gas adsorption and separation, electrocatalysis, battery, supercapacitor and Proton exchange membrane fuel cell.

We report two pediatric patients of Chinese descent with atopic dermatitis (AD) who developed labial melanotic macules in the absence of previous topical calcineurin inhibitor (TCI) usage. Both patients presented with multiple hyperpigmented macules on the upper and lower vermilion lips with a negative genetic workup for Peutz-Jeghers. These findings suggest labial melanotic macules may be a cutaneous manifestation of chronic eczematous dermatitis in pediatric patients, particularly those of Asian descent.

Photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2), so-called artificial photosynthesis, has been regarded as the future technology with high potential to sustainably address global warming. However, the efficiency and stability of the catalysts used in this frontier technology are substantially lower than the requirement for practical application, especially for gas-phase reactions. In this work, the composites of iron single-atom catalysts (Fe-SACs) supported on N/O-doped carbon and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) were fabricated to promote the gas-solid phase photocatalytic CO2 reduction under the simulated sunlight.

Premise: Pandanus Parkinson (Pandanaceae) is a large genus of paleotropical tree-like monocots. Previous studies using small DNA regions questioned the monophyly of the seven Pandanus subgenera, but low phylogenetic branch support hindered further investigations. We aimed to (1) test Pandanus subgeneric monophyly, (2) identify clade morphological synapomorphies, (3) investigate correlations between leaf anatomy of water storage tissue and climatic differentiation across clades, and (4) construct hypotheses on the genus' spatiotemporal history.

Testosterone affects several organs in the body and is very important for male well-being. Aging men with late-onset hypogonadism (LOH) experience physiologic, psychiatric, and sexual symptoms related to a decline in the serum concentration of testosterone with age. However, it is well-known that the extent of the decline in testosterone concentration does not correlate with the severity of LOH-related symptoms.
