Chemical movement through soil is an important process in agriculture and ecology. Observing the spatial and temporal dynamics of these processes using conventional chemical ecology methods requires techniques that are destructive and/or lack resolution. Neutron radiography has the capability to allow chemical motion through sand/soil to be tracked with high spatial and temporal resolution, and we show that it allows for the motion of hydrophobic and hydrophilic chemicals to be distinguished.

All disciplines, including nursing, may be experiencing significant changes with the advent of free, publicly available generative artificial intelligence tools. Recent research has shown the difficulty in distinguishing artificial intelligence-generated text from content that is written by humans, thereby increasing the probability for unverified information shared in scholarly works. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of generative artificial intelligence usage in published nursing articles.

Using Burris and Owens' (2024) values-based framework, nursing faculty at a Christian university evaluated curriculum and organizational core values (I-CARE values) to identify how the values were incorporated in nursing program course assignments. The university's I-CARE values are considered a means to develop professionalism in nursing students. The evaluation identified gaps in implementation of the organizational core I-CARE values in assignments at the baccalaureate and graduate levels.

In this study, the reaction between phosphazene superbases and a chlorophosphazene trimer ([PClN]) has been investigated. In this room temperature reaction, the phosphazene superbase (MeN)PN(MeN)P═NEt, commonly known as PEt, was shown to behave as a nucleophile, displacing one of the chlorides from [PClN] and producing the tadpole-like structure . The reaction described herein is one of the few instances of a phosphazene superbase behaving as a nucleophile rather than a Brønsted base.

Test-retest reliability-establishing that measurements remain consistent across multiple testing sessions-is critical to measuring, understanding, and predicting individual differences in infant language development. However, previous attempts to establish measurement reliability in infant speech perception tasks are limited, and reliability of frequently used infant measures is largely unknown. The current study investigated the test-retest reliability of infants' preference for infant-directed speech over adult-directed speech in a large sample (N = 158) in the context of the ManyBabies1 collaborative research project.

Mixture toxicity was determined for 32 binary combinations. One chemical was the non-reactive, non-polar narcotic 3-methyl-2-butanone (always chemical A) and the other was a potentially reactive electrophile (chemical B). Bioluminescence inhibition in Allovibrio fischeri was measured at 15-, 30-, and 45-minutes of exposure for A, B, and the mixture (MX).

The vertebrate eye lens is an unusual organ in that most of its cells lack nuclei and the ability to replace aging protein. The small heat shock protein α-crystallins evolved to become key components of this lens, possibly because of their ability to prevent aggregation of aging protein that would otherwise lead to lens opacity. Most vertebrates express two α-crystallins, αA- and αB-crystallin, and mutations in each are linked to human cataract.

Open research practices seek to enhance the transparency and reproducibility of research. While there is evidence of increased uptake in these practices, such as study preregistration and open data, facilitated by new infrastructure and policies, little research has assessed general uptake of such practices across psychology university researchers. The current study estimates psychologists' level of engagement in open research practices across universities in the United Kingdom and Ireland, while also assessing possible explanatory factors that may impact their engagement.

Although both teacher-student relationship (TSR) and peer relationship (PR) have been found important for the development of students' classroom engagement, little research has been done regarding the joint operations of these two factors. Guided by a developmental systems framework, this study examined longitudinal between-person and within-person associations between TSR/ PR and classroom engagement in a sample of 784 low-achieving students in the first three years of elementary school. A multidimensional approach was used to distinguish positive and negative dimensions of TSR, as well as peer liking and disliking.

Premise: Plants grown at high densities show increased tolerance to heavy metals for reasons that are not clear. A potential explanation is the release of citrate by plant roots, which binds metals and prevents uptake. Thus, pooled exudates at high plant densities might increase tolerance.

Recent high-profile uses of deadly force by police in the United States and elsewhere have been the subject of extensive media coverage and social unrest. In turn, researchers have exhibited nascent interest in the factors that influence the use of deadly force by police, as well as vignette-driven studies of circumstances in which deadly force is believed to be acceptable. Less attention has been paid to perceptions of the frequency with which deadly force is used, proportion that is legal and necessary, to what extent its use varies by race, or how these beliefs are shaped by media consumption.

Introduction: The output of scholarly publications in scientific literature has increased exponentially in recent years. This increase in literature has been accompanied by an increase in retractions. Although some of these may be attributed to publishing errors, many are the result of unsavory research practices.

The isolation of bacteriophages targeting most clinically relevant bacteria is reasonably straightforward as long as its targeted host does not have complex chemical, physical, and environmental requirements. Often, sewage, soil, feces, and different body fluids are used for bacteriophage isolation procedures, and following enrichment, it is common to obtain more than a single phage in a sample. This chapter describes a simple method for the enrichment and isolation of bacteriophages from liquid and solid samples that can be adapted for different clinically important aerobic bacteria.

Fertility problems, often called infertility, have been defined as the inability to conceive or maintain pregnancy throughout one year of trying (World Health Organization, 2020). Because fertility problems can present unique medical, emotional, relational, and identity challenges, they are often difficult to talk about, and even well-intentioned messages can be perceived negatively. This study uses Communicated Sense-Making (CSM; Kellas & Kranstuber Horstman, 2015), particularly its mechanism of memorable messages, to explore what types of support-related messages people experiencing infertility find memorable.

The emergence of large-scale replication projects yielding successful rates substantially lower than expected caused the behavioural, cognitive, and social sciences to experience a so-called 'replication crisis'. In this Perspective, we reframe this 'crisis' through the lens of a credibility revolution, focusing on positive structural, procedural and community-driven changes. Second, we outline a path to expand ongoing advances and improvements.
