Background: Previous studies have demonstrated residual complement-mediated deposits in repeat kidney biopsies of C3 glomerulopathies (C3G) (dense deposit disease (DDD) and C3 glomerulonephritis) following eculizumab treatment, despite some clinical improvement. With residual complement deposition, it is difficult to determine whether there is a reduced complement-mediated endothelial cell injury. We validated that myeloperoxidase (MPO) immunohistochemical staining identified glomerular endothelial cell injury in crescentic glomerulonephritis and C3G.

Background Context: Postoperative pain control following posterior lumbar fusion continues to be challenging and often requires high doses of opioids for pain relief. The use of ketorolac in spinal fusion is limited due to the risk of pseudarthrosis. However, recent literature suggests it may not affect fusion rates with short-term use and low doses.

Goal: The goal of this study was to determine the financial impact of adopting the US Multi-Society Task Force (USMSTF) polypectomy guidelines on physician reimbursement and disposable equipment costs for gastroenterologists in the academic medical center and community practice settings.
Background: In 2020, USMSTF guidelines on polypectomy were introduced with a strong recommendation for cold snare rather than cold forceps technique for removing diminutive and small polyps. The prevalence of hip prostheses is increasing. Prostate radiation delivery in the setting of hip prostheses is complicated by both imaging artifacts that interfere with volume delineation and dosimetric effects that must be addressed in the planning process. We hypothesized that with specialized planning, any photon-based definitive prostate radiotherapy approach may be utilized in patients with bilateral hip prostheses.
