A patient with a history of total cystectomy for bladder cancer, cutaneous ureterostomy, irradiation, and long-term indwelling urinary catheters presented with an aortoureteral fistula (UAF), which was treated with an endoureteral stent graft. The described ureteral approach using stent grafts may be considered for the management of UAFs when more traditional approaches are unavailable.

Surgical correction of an anophthalmic enophthalmos secondary to inappropriate repair of the eye socket involves several difficult aesthetic issues associated with long-term use of a poorly fitting prosthetic eye. In this paper, we present two cases of anophthalmic enophthalmos. During the treatment of the first patient, unsatisfactory cosmetic problems including lower eyelid retraction, hypoglobus, and severe upper eyelid ptosis were revealed.

Spindle cell hemangioendothelioma (SCH) was originally described by Weiss and Enzinger (1986) as a low-grade angiosarcoma resembling both cavernous hemangioma and Kaposi's sarcoma. Recent studies suggest that SCH is a benign neoplasm or reactive lesion accompanying a congenital or acquired vascular malformation. Most SCHs present as one or more nodules affecting the dermis or subcutis of the distal extremities.

Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is a rare high-grade soft tissue sarcoma. The epithelioid variant accounts for 5% or less of MPNSTs; the clinical behavior of this variant is unclear. Reports of approximately 40 cases are available in the English literature; however, most reports addressed clinicopathological features rather than therapeutic procedures or clinical courses.

We present the first report of a patient with an isolated scaphoid dislocation with axial carpal dissociation sustained during volar flexion of the wrist. The scaphoid was dislocated to the radial side of the radial styloid process and was slightly shifted to the dorsal side. It was shown that the position of the wrist played an irrelevant role for occurring scaphoid dislocation.

The purpose of radiation therapy for unresectable biliary tract cancer is to prolong survival or prolong stent patency, and to provide palliation of pain. For unresectable bile duct cancer, there are a number of studies showing that radiation therapy is superior to the best supportive care. Although radiation therapy is used in many institutions, no large randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have been performed to date and the evidence level supporting the superiority of this treatment is low.

Percutaneous transhepatic central venous access with a subcutaneous infusion port was performed in a 34-year-old woman with extensive third-degree burns whose peripheral vessels were not available because of infection or dermatoplastic sites. This procedure could be done in the same way as the usual PTCD maneuver without serious complications. The infusion system functioned well, and the patient's alimentation could be carried out.

Endoscopic management has become the main therapeutic approach for the extraction of common bile duct (CBD) stones, and successful removal can be achieved in 80-90% patients using conventional balloon and basket techniques. However, if it is difficult to completely fragment a stone, or to clear the CBD, which may occur for a variety of reasons, the therapeutic problem will remain. When bile duct stones can not be removed, a viable management option is to place a biliary stent to ensure drainage.

This article describes our experience with high-dose radiotherapy in combination with the placement of expandable metallic stents (EMS) in the management of hilar bile duct carcinoma. Between 1988 and 1999, 107 consecutive patients with hilar bile duct carcinoma were treated with EMS placement either alone or in combination with high-dose radiotherapy. External beam radiotherapy (EBRT) was indicated in 101 patients, and in 86 this was combined with intraluminal 192Ir irradiation (ILRT, 59-98Gy).

A patient with M-proteinemia (IgM, kappa type), lymphocytosis, anemia, and massive splenomegaly, was diagnosed as having Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM). Since this case was refractory to chemotherapy, splenic irradiation was performed, which effectively reduced the serum IgM level, spleen size, and lymphocyte counts; however, its effect was transient. Splenectomy was then carried out.

PUVA therapy is known to be effective for treating cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL). Considering that adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) represents a T-lymphocytic proliferative disorder similar to CTCL, it is likely that PUVA therapy is effective for treating ATL. We applied PUVA therapy to a 53 year old man with acute (i.
