Aim: This study aimed to compare the prognostic performance of the risk models for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) receiving atezolizumab and bevacizumab (Atez/Bev) as first-line treatment.
Methods: Among 449 patients included in this retrospective multicenter study, we compared the prognostic performance of 13 risk models for the 12-month and 18-month survival status using area under the curve (AUC), net reclassification improvement (NRI), and relative integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) analysis. We also constructed a calibration plot to assess the fitness of each model.

In the current era of immune therapy, lenvatinib (LEN) continues to be vital for treating unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC) patients. This study investigates the importance of nutritional status in the prognosis of uHCC patients receiving LEN and evaluates a new prognostic scoring system that combines the geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI) and systemic inflammatory response. From 2018 to 2022, 484 uHCC patients treated with LEN (384 males, median age 73).

Background And Hypothesis: Eosinophilia has not been highlighted in clozapine-induced adverse inflammatory events, as it is often asymptomatic and self-limiting, while drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome occurs rarely. This study aimed to reveal the temporal relationships between eosinophilia and other inflammatory events during clozapine initiation.
Study Design: The temporal relationships between eosinophilia and other inflammatory events were evaluated among 241 patients with schizophrenia treated with clozapine for the first time at 7 hospitals.

Background: Endovascular therapy is an effective method for revascularization in lower extremity artery disease, but treating chronic total occlusion (CTO) remains challenging. This is particularly true for patients with severe calcification, poor run-off in below-the-knee arteries, or limited access sites, where even guidewire (GW) passage can be difficult and bidirectional approaches are often not feasible. The tip-detection (TD) method has been reported as a useful technique in coronary artery CTO interventions, allowing real-time visualization of the GW tip direction.

Urgent revascularization should be performed to patients with acute limb ischemia (ALI) unless the ischemia is irreversible. In patients with severe ALI and multiple morbidities, surgical revascularization is not feasible; however, endovascular revascularization (EVR) may be an option. This study aimed to examine 1-year clinical outcomes of EVR in patients with ALI and determine prognostic factors.

In patients with a femoropopliteal chronic total occlusion (CTO) after femoro-femoral (FF) bypass surgery, it is often difficult to perform endovascular therapy because of access site problems. We have treated two patients with CTO of the superficial femoral artery (SFA) using an FF crossover bypass graft. The two cases were a man with intermittent claudication and acute limb ischemia, respectively.

Aim: Since the development of tremelimumab plus durvalumab (Dur/Tre) for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC), it has been used as not only an initial but also later line treatment in clinical practice. This study aimed to elucidate clinical prognostic factors for progression-free survival (PFS) in Dur/Tre treatment cases.
Methods: Enrolled were 183 uHCC patients treated with Dur/Tre from 2023 to May 2024 (median age, 74 years; male patients, 152; Child-Pugh class A:B, 150:33; Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage B:C, 59:124; initial line use, 64).

Objective: Autoimmune retinopathy and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ)-related retinal toxicity share many similarities, raising the possibility autoimmunity plays a role in HCQ retinopathy. The objective of this study is to determine whether patients diagnosed with HCQ retinal toxicity are more likely to have circulating antiretinal autoantibodies (AAbs) compared to controls.
Methods: We tested plasma samples for the presence of anti-retinal AAbs by immunoblotting in 270 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) receiving HCQ.

We previously found that "albumin grade", formerly called the "ALBS grade," demonstrated significant capability for prognostic stratification in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients treated with lenvatinib. The purpose of the present study was to compare the performance of the albumin grade with that of the modified albumin-bilirubin (mALBI) grade in predicting overall survival of HCC patients with different BCLC stages and treatment types. We enrolled 7,645 Japanese patients newly diagnosed with HCC using the Akaike information criteria (AIC), likelihood ratio, and C-index in different Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stages and treatments.

Rett syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects 1 in 10,000 females. Various treatments have been explored; however, no effective treatments have been reported to date, except for trofinetide, a synthetic analog of glycine-proline-glutamic acid, which was approved by the FDA in 2023. Serological biomarkers that correlate with the disease status of RTT are needed to promote early diagnosis and to develop novel agents.

Anterior cerebral artery (ACA) dissection is generally managed with conservative treatment, often resulting in a favorable prognosis. However, cases with delayed enlargement of dissecting aneurysms following conservative therapy are rare. We describe a 46-year-old male patient who presented with concurrent subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral infarction caused by ACA dissection.

Introduction: The most frequently used first-line treatment in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is atezolizumab plus bevacizumab. Upon progression after this treatment, the standard of care in many countries is sorafenib, due to the lack of reimbursement for other drugs. Several randomized trials are currently underway to clarify the best second-line therapy in patients with HCC.

Purpose Postoperative pain management methods for tonsillectomy commonly include the use of opioids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and acetaminophen. However, some patients report pain despite the use of these medications. In recent years, ultrasound-guided selective glossopharyngeal nerve block (UGSGNB) and ultrasound-guided maxillary nerve block (UGMNB) have been reported to be effective for analgesia post-tonsillectomy.
