Focal myositis is a rare, localized, benign, self-limiting, and non-suppurative inflammatory lesion of the skeletal muscle that may occasionally occur as a complication of rheumatic diseases. This case report discusses a 58-year-old patient with rheumatoid arthritis, who was diagnosed with focal myositis during standard immunosuppressive therapy. The patient was treated with tofacitinib; to our knowledge, this is the first reported case of focal myositis managed with this medication.

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) presents various clinical manifestations, including skin lesions, peripheral arthritis, axial involvement, enthesitis, nail involvement, dactylitis, and uveitis. In addition, it causes a high incidence of lifestyle-related diseases and an increase in cerebrovascular and cardiovascular events. As the pathology of PsA has been clarified, molecular-targeted drugs targeting tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin (IL)-17A, IL-17A/F, IL-17 receptor, IL-12/23(p40), IL-23p19, Cytotoxic T-lymphocyte Antigen-4 (CTLA-4), Janus kinase, and phosphodiesterase-4 have been developed and are widely used in clinical practice.

Introduction: Successful retrieval of from porcine clinical specimens has been rarely described, and data has only been obtained from a few swine-producing countries. Therefore, the aim of this study was the isolation of recovered from a specimen originating from a commercial pig farm located in Poland.
Material And Methods: Seven dead 12-week-old pigs weighing 24-26 kg with joint swelling of the hind legs were selected on a modern farrow-to-nursery farm in Poland in October 2023.

Melorheostosis is a rare bone disease characterized by abundant bone formation with a characteristic radiographic appearance that resembles "dripping candle wax." Recent data have shown that the majority of cases are due to somatic activating mutations in bone. Melorheostosis has several clinical and radiographic presentations, which are now known to be caused by different somatic mutations such as , , , and .

Purpose: To compare the biomechanics of a drop vertical jump (DVJ) landing task and functional outcomes among patients with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) with quadriceps tendon (QT) and patellar tendon (PT) autografts.
Methods: Physically active patients who underwent primary ACLR with either a QT or PT autograft were included in this study. All were within 6 months to 2 years after surgery and cleared for return to physical activity.

Introduction: The optimal management strategy for unstable distal clavicular fractures remains controversial. Recent studies on plate techniques have reported good-to-excellent outcomes with no serious complications. The questions are that: (1) Does the use of wire augmentation with locking plate in distal part (distal wire augmentation) reduce radiographic loss of reduction (RLOR) and get earlier bony union in distal clavicular fractures? (2) Which fixation methods are associated with a higher incidence of acromioclavicular (AC) joints arthritis or subluxation? We collected and analyzed clinical studies on different plate fixation methods for unstable fractures to identify the best surgical modality.

Introduction: Stair ascent and descent are physically demanding tasks requiring higher functional ability of the lower extremity muscles and joint range of motion than level walking, and are associated with patient satisfaction after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This study aimed to investigate stair ascent and descent ability after cruciate-retaining (CR)-TKA using the patient-reported outcomes, and to examine the role of knee sagittal stability and handgrip strength in postoperative stair ascent and descent ability.
Materials And Methods: This study included 84 female patients who underwent primary unilateral CR-TKA for knee osteoarthritis at our institute between April 2015 and February 2019.

Flurbiprofen (FBP) is poorly water-soluble BCS class II drug with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, used to treat arthritis and degenerative joint diseases. This study was aimed to develop SNEDDS loaded with FBP. Six SNEDDS using two oils olive oil (F, F, F) and castor oil (F, F, F) with three different Smix ratios consisting of Tween 20 and PEG 400 (1:1, 1:2, 2:1) were prepared and characterized.

The radiological manifestations of calcium pyrophosphate deposition (CPPD) revolve around two main axes: the asymptomatic form and CPPD disease. The latter is a consequence of an immune response to calcium phosphate crystals. Chondrocalcinosis is broadly considered the radiographic manifestation of CPPD regardless of whether it is asymptomatic or associated with inflammatory arthritis.

Background: MicroRNAs, a class of small noncoding RNAs, serve as post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression and are present in a stable and quantifiable form in biological fluids. MicroRNAs may influence intra-articular responses and the course of disease, but very little is known about their temporal changes in osteoarthritis.
Objectives: To identify miRNAs and characterise the temporal changes in their abundance in SF from horses with experimentally induced osteoarthritis.

Objective: Group A Streptococcus (GAS) are Gram-positive cocci that colonize the nasopharynx and/or skin and in rare cases may cause severe invasive infections. Although these infections decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic, some countries have observed an increased number of invasive GAS (iGAS) diseases in recent years. The objective of this study was to describe a series of iGAS diseases in a referral hospital for the treatment of pediatric infectious disease in Minas Gerais State, Brazil, between September 2022 and August 2023.

The reasons for the low frequency of anti-Ro/SS-A antibody in patients with HTLV-1-associated myelopathy complicated with Sjögren's syndrome (SS) are unclear. In this study, we investigated whether HTLV-1-infected T cells can act directly on B cells and suppress B cells' production of antibodies, including anti-Ro/SS-A antibody. For this purpose, we established an in vitro T-cell-free B-cell antibody production system.

Objective: Nuclear transcription factor-κB (NF-κB) activation is a pivotal event in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis (OA). OA patients frequently exhibit vitamin D (VD) deficiency, which is commonly associated with NF-κB activation. Our study aimed to investigate whether VD could protect against OA by modulating NF-κB pathway and to explore the underlying mechanisms.

Purpose: To describe and evaluate the modified suture technique using PDS II for capsule closure in Total knee arthroplasty.
Methods: One hundred-five patients with end-stage osteoarthritis of the knee received Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in our department. The arthrotomy wounds were closed randomly utilizing either modified suture (the MS group, 53 patients) or traditional suture (the TS group, 52 patients) techniques.

Objective: Fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) are key players in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) by resisting apoptosis via increased autophagy. Elevated synovial aquaporin 1 (AQP1) affects RA FLS behaviors, but its relationship with FLS autophagy is unclear. We aim to clarify that silencing AQP1 inhibits autophagy to exert its anti-RA effects.

Understanding how inflammatory cytokines influence profibrogenic wound healing responses in fibroblasts is important for understanding the pathogenesis of fibrosis. TNF-α and IL-13 are key cytokines in Th1 and Th2 immune responses, respectively, while TGF-β1 is the principal pro-fibrotic mediator. We show that 12-day fibroblast culture with TNF-α or IL-13 induces fibrogenesis, marked by progressively increasing type III and VI collagen formation, and that TGF-β1 co-stimulation amplifies these effects.

We report the 99mTc-MDP bone scan of a 44-year-old man with a history of lung adenocarcinoma and recent multiple joint pain after completing pembrolizumab immunotherapy treatment. This interesting image of symmetric uptakes around bilateral joints throughout the skeleton resembles the ball sensors on a motion capture suit. Hence, we recommend naming this distinctive imaging appearance as the "motion capture suit" sign.
