The mechanisms of oxygen diffusion in brain capillaries have not been fully clarified to date. According to the laws of physics, the well-documented phenomenon of hyperoxemia-induced excessive increases in brain tissue oxygen pressure (PbtO2) contradicts traditional models of cerebral capillary oxygen diffusion. Circulating models predict a significant drop in oxygen pressure (PO2), and some of them foresee the presence of hypoxic or anoxic corners near the capillary end, regardless of high PbtO2 levels.

Background: Rotavirus vaccines are moderately protective against illness in high mortality settings compared with low mortality settings. Vaccine effectiveness (VE) evaluations may clarify our understanding of these disparities, but estimates among key subpopulations and against rare outcomes are not available in many analyses due to sample size. We combined 25 datasets from test-negative design case-control evaluations in 24 countries that enrolled children with medically-attended diarrhea, laboratory-confirmed rotavirus stool testing, and documented vaccination status.

Aims: Uncertainty exists about defining true iron deficiency (ID) in heart failure (HF) patients. We assessed the relationship of different ID definitions with cardiac structure and function, congestion, exercise capacity, and prognosis in HF outpatients.
Methods And Results: Iron deficiency was defined according to guidelines (G-ID: ferritin <100 ng/ml or ferritin 100-299 ng/ml with transferrin saturation [TSAT] <20%).

During the heat treatment of square or rectangular steel sections, a heated charge, arranged in regular packages, is placed inside a furnace. This type of charge forms a porous medium through which a complex heat flow occurs during heating. Several heat transfer mechanisms act simultaneously within this medium: conduction through the section walls, conduction and natural convection within the gas, thermal radiation between the section walls, and complex heat transfer (mainly contact conduction) at the joints between the adjacent sections.

Herein we describe the synthesis and rearrangement of 1,3-diamino-2,7-naphthyridines and 1-amino-3-oxo-2,7-naphthyridines. In the case of 1,3-diamino-2,7-naphthyridines, it was found that the rearrangement reaction was influenced by both the substituent at the 7th position of the 2,7-naphthyridine ring and by the nature of the cyclic amine at the 1st position. The influence was mainly steric.

The intervention, based on the nurturing care framework, offered a customized parenting curriculum for young children, emphasizing holistic development through behavior change approaches tailored to local contexts.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of the IPP4BC project, on early childhood development (ECD) and care outcomes of children under 6 years in vulnerable communities in Nepal and Uganda, particularly those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To contrast the rapid spread of antibiotic resistance in bacteria, new alternative therapeutic options are urgently needed. The use of nanoparticles as carriers for clinically relevant antibiotics represents a promising solution to potentiate their efficacy. In this study, we used larvae for the first time as an animal model for testing a nanoconjugated glycopeptide antibiotic (teicoplanin) against infection.

Background: A variety of bariatric surgical techniques have been implemented to manage obesity, including the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG).The aim of the study was to compare the pre and postoperative features of patients undergoing LSG, analyze the dynamics of BMI and BAROS indices and to assess the impact of body appearance concern on the postoperative outcomes.
Methods: A total of 591 participants were divided into 3 age groups (20-39, 40-59 and over 60 years of age).

Aim: A recent European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) practical guide provides guidance on the use of novel digital devices for heart rhythm analysis using either electrocardiogram (ECG) or photoplethysmography (PPG) technology for the diagnosis of atrial fibrillation (AF). This survey assesses physicians' preferences to use digital devices in patients with possible AF and their impact on clinical decision-making.
Methods And Results: Participants of the DAS-CAM III initiated and distributed an online survey assessing physician preferences in using digital devices for the management of AF in different clinical scenarios.

Modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) is widely used to preserve fresh fruits. In the case of exporting products in bulk formats (2-5 kg), perforated MAP can help extend shelf life if appropriately configured to reach suitable gas levels. This study evaluated the configuration of a perforated MAP system for purple passion (Passiflora edulis Sims) fruits based on modeling and simulation of changes in gas levels within the package headspace and experimental data on the respiration and transpiration of the fruits.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to investigate the heart rate variability indicators of students who had contracted COVID-19 after performing physical activity. The aim was to uncover the potential cardiac complications and dysregulations of the autonomic nervous system.
Material And Method: We explored about 11 heart rate variability indicators and their changes immediately after a 5-minute physical activity performed by using Proteus pes 3320 bicycle odometer.

The first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by hidden valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics.

Metalized-film dielectric capacitors provide lump portions of energy on demand. While the capacities of various capacitor designs are comparable in magnitude, their stabilities make a difference. Dielectric breakdowns - micro-discharges - routinely occur in capacitors due to the inevitable presence of localized structure defects.

A simplified precipitation route involving silica hydrogel produced from serpentine-group minerals has been applied for pigment synthesis through the heat treatment of intermediates precipitated in the liquid phase, including H₂O, NaOH, ZnCl₂, NiCl₂, and the silica hydrogel mentioned. Investigations have shown that this method is applicable for ZnNiSiO compositions when x does not exceed 1.0 and pigments coloration in different blue or green hues is defined by certain proportions of phases crystallized in final products on heating from 900 up to 1200 °C, namely, α-ZnSiO representing nickel-doped willemite, nickel oxide NiO and liebenbergite NiSiO.

Introduction: Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome (HGPS) is a rare genetic condition characterized by premature aging, impacting multiple organ systems, including cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and integumentary. Significant abnormalities in a transgenic mouse model (homozygous G608G mutation), specifically targeting the development of skull and facial bone indices through high-resolution CT scanning and cephalometric analysis.
Methods: Key measurements include bone thickness, skull volume, and cranial suture integrity.
