Bimagnetic Core/Shell Nanoprobes with Tunable Exchange Coupling for High Resolution and Sensitive Magnetic Particle Imaging.

Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) has demonstrated versatile applications in biomedicine, including tumor imaging, cell tracking, and image-guided hyperthermia. Despite these advancements, the prevalent use of clinically approved tracers has posed limitations on MPI's resolution and sensitivity. In this study, we engineered a bimagnetic core/shell nanocrystals (BMCS) tailored for MPI by optimizing the heterostructure and modulating the exchange coupling effect between the two magnetic components.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the sixth most common malignancy globally and ranks third in terms of both mortality and incidence rates. NDRG2 regulates the formation of reactive astrocyte-derived progenitor cells Notch signaling pathway after brain traumatic injury in rats.

In response to traumatic brain injury, a subpopulation of cortical astrocytes is activated, resulting in acquisition of stem cell properties, known as reactive astrocytes-derived progenitor cells (Rad-PCs). However, the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown during this process. In this study, we examined the role of N-myc downstream-regulated gene 2 (NDRG2), a differentiation- and stress-associated molecule, in Rad-PCs after cortical stab injury in adult rats.

NIR-II fluorescence imaging-guided colorectal cancer surgery targeting CEACAM5 by a nanobody.

Background: Surgery is the cornerstone of colorectal cancer (CRC) treatment, yet complete removal of the tumour remains a challenge. The second near-infrared window (NIR-II, 1000-1700 nm) fluorescent molecular imaging is a novel technique, which has broad application prospects in tumour surgical navigation. We aimed to evaluate the ability of CEACAM5-targeted probe for CRC recognition and the value of NIR-II imaging-guided CRC resection.

Treatment of avulsion fracture of posterior cruciate ligament tibial insertion by minimally invasive approach in posterior medial knee.

Objective: The study aims to explore the feasibility and clinical effect of posterior minimally invasive treatment of cruciate ligament tibial avulsion fracture.

Methods: Posterior knee minimally invasive approach was used to treat avulsion fracture of posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tibia in 15 males and 11 females. The length of the incision, intraoperative blood loss, operation time, postoperative hospital stay, residual relaxation, and fracture healing time were analyzed to evaluate the curative effect, learning curve, and advantages of the new technology.

Minimally invasive traditional inverted "L" approach for posterior cruciate ligament avulsion fractures: a retrospective study.

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of a minimally invasive arthroscopic approach and to compare it with the traditional inverted "L" approach for the treatment of posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) avulsion fractures.

Methods: From January 2016 to January 2020, the clinical data from patients with PCL avulsion fracture of the tibial insertion were analyzed retrospectively. They were divided into two groups based on surgical approaches: minimally invasive approach group ( = 15) and traditional inverted "L" group ( = 15 cases).

Objectives: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of high-dose amoxicillin-proton pump inhibitor dual therapy, and to provide a new eradication regimen as a first-line option for patients with infection.

Here, a new hybrid scaffold is designed based on silk fibroin (SF) scaffold and CFs-derived ECM.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) participate in the development and progression of prostate cancer (PCa). We aimd to identify a novel lncRNA, named lncRNA activated in metastatic PCa (lncAMPC), and investigate its mechanisms and clinical significance in PCa. First, the biological capacity of lncAMPC in PCa was demonstrated both in vitro and in vivo.

Effects of NIX-mediated mitophagy on ox-LDL-induced macrophage pyroptosis in atherosclerosis.

Pyroptosis is a form of cell death that is uniquely dependent on caspase-1. Pyroptosis involved in oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL)-induced human macrophage death through the promotion of caspase-1 activation is important for the formation of unstable plaques in atherosclerosis. The mitochondrial outer membrane protein NIX directly interacts with microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 (LC3).

Successful Lower Limb Replantation of Knee-Level Amputation in a Child: A Case Report.

Replantation of a lower extremity amputated at the knee joint level in a child is rare. We present a case of a 3-year-old child with his right leg totally severed from the knee joint in a traumatic accident. After 5 hours of cold ischemia time, together with antishock therapies, the child underwent leg replantation under stable conditions.

FHL1-related myopathy may not be classified by reducing bodies in muscle biopsy.

FHL1-related myopathies, including reducing body myopathy (RBM), X-linked scapulo-axio-peroneal myopathy, rigid spine syndrome, X-linked myopathy with postural muscle atrophy (XMPMA), X-linked Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, are clinically and pathologically heterogeneous disorders caused by FHL1 gene mutations. According to previous reports, the first three types are myopathies with reducing bodies observed in biopsies, and the last three are myopathies without reducing bodies. We report four FHL1-related myopathy patients, including an XMPMA patient and a RBM family with three patients.

Effect of ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks of the abdominal wall on pain relief after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

The aim of this study was to compare the effect of an ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane block (TAPB) and rectus sheath block (RSB) combination, an ultrasound-guided posterior TAP block combined with the local anesthetic infiltration (LAI) and LAI alone on pain relief after laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). One hundred eighty patients who were American Society of Anesthesiologists class Ι or Π were included in this randomized, double-blind, non-inferiority study. All patients underwent three-port LC and were divided into 3 groups.

Multicenter surveillance study of surgical site infection and its risk factors in radical resection of colon or rectal carcinoma.

Background: Colorectal surgery is associated with high rates of surgical site infection (SSI). We investigated SSI in radical resection of colon or rectal carcinoma and its epidemiological distribution in 26 hospitals in China.

Methods: We conducted prospective surveillance of patients who underwent radical resection of colon or rectal carcinoma in 26 selected hospitals from January 2015 to June 2016.

Application of fluorescence hybridization in the detection of bladder transitional-cell carcinoma: A multi-center clinical study based on Chinese population.

Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic value of fluorescence hybridization (FISH) in bladder cancer.

Methods: We enrolled healthy volunteers and patients who were clinically suspected to have bladder cancer and conducted FISH tests and cytology examinations from August 2007 to December 2008. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed and the area under curve (AUC) values were calculated for both the FISH and urine cytology tests.

Clinical Features and Prognostic Risk Factors of Choroid Plexus Tumors in Children.

Background: Decision-making concerning the treatment of choroid plexus tumor (CPT) in pediatric patients remains a topic of considerable debate. The aim of this work was to describe clinical features and prognostic risk factors of CPT in the pediatric population and to provide theoretical opinions regarding clinical decisions for CPT.

Methods: The data of 96 patients with CPT and younger than 14 years were retrospectively analyzed.

[Osteogenic potential of different adipose derived stem cells in rats].

To compare the osteogenic ability of brown adipose stem cells (BADSC) and white adipose stem cells (WADSC), and to provide evidence for further research and clinical application of adipose-derived stem cells. The brown fat under the scapula of SD rats and the white adipose tissue in the groin were isolated and obtained BADSC and WADSC. The morphology of the cells was observed by an inverted phase contrast microscope, and the cell count was used to detect the proliferative ability.

Randomized trial of umbilical incisional hernia in high-risk patients: extraction of gallbladder through subxiphoid port vs. umbilical port after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Introduction: Trocar site incisional hernia (TSIH) is one of the most common complications of laparoscopic surgery. Using the umbilical port as a common hole for removing the gallbladder in laparoscopic cholecystectomy is more likely to lead to TSIH than other ports. Thus, extracting the gallbladder through other ports may reduce the incidence of TSIH.
