Introduction: The Cementoblastoma is a benign ectomesenchymal odontogenic neoplasm of the jaw, arising from an exuberant production of cemental tissue continuous with the roots of teeth (usually mandibular posteriors), resulting in a calcified mass adherent with the root apices.

Case Presentation: A curious case of a large Cementoblastoma, the size and shape of a ping pong ball, is presented, the first of its kind ever reported to involve the internal / medial / lingual aspect of the mandible, and presenting with unusual and deviant features.

Discussion & Conclusion: The Cementoblastoma is usually associated with certain inherent and pathognomonic features, making it rather straightforward to identify and diagnose.

Introduction: This study explored the effects of propolis extract calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)) combination on malondialdehyde and superoxide dismutase expression in dental pulp, aiming to assess its potential as a direct pulp capping material.

Materials And Methods: Thirty male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to three groups. Mandibular molar teeth were prepared using a low-speed round bur.

Article Synopsis
  • The article investigates how the expressions of Osterix, ALP, and osteopontin in alveolar bone are affected by the application of normoxic and hypoxic-preconditioned GMSCs in rabbits undergoing orthodontic tooth movement (OTM).
  • Forty-eight young male rabbits were divided into four groups: one without treatment, one with normoxic-preconditioned GMSCs, one with hypoxic-preconditioned GMSCs, and one with standard OMF, with specific methods for moving their teeth and injecting the cells.
  • Results showed that the expressions of Osterix, ALP, and osteopontin were significantly higher in the group treated with hypoxic-preconditioned GMSCs compared to those treated with

Background: The gingival recession causes tooth sensitivity, poor esthetics, and tooth mobility in severe cases. Scientific documentation revealed effective root coverage (RC) and increased keratinized tissue heights acquired with the coronally advanced flap (CAF) for multiple recession defects.

Objectives: This research evaluates and compares the efficacy of CAF procedures with and without Type I collagen bio-absorbable membrane in guided tissue regeneration (GTR) in the treatment of Miller's Class I and II gingival recession.

Oral amyloidosis: A case report and diagnostic algorithm.

J Oral Maxillofac Pathol

January 2022

Department of Hematology, Army Hospital (R and R), New Delhi, India.

Background: Amyloidosis is a distressing and infrequent condition caused by accumulation of abnormally folded proteins as aggregates in the extracellular tissue spaces of the body, leading to destruction of organ structure and function. Presentation of Oral Amyloidosis is generally a rare phenomenon, tongue being the most common site to manifest the disease process. Accurate recognition of the amyloid protein and its sub typing is absolutely critical for clinical management and to assess prognosis such as to avoid misdiagnosis and unwanted, potentially harmful treatment.

Advances in periodontal plastic surgical procedures have led to achieve predictable root coverage outcomes for the recession defects. However, little has been reported and emphasised over management of palatal recession defects. The root coverage surgical procedures used for coverage of palatal recession defect are technically challenging in terms of accessibility and graft coverage.

Article Synopsis
  • Central adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) of the mandible is a rare tumor that arises from minor salivary glands and can mimic other dental diseases, making it hard to diagnose accurately.
  • ACC is known for its long clinical progression, tendency to invade nerves, high recurrence rates, and potential for spreading to distant sites.
  • The study highlights a unique case of ACC in an unusual location in the mandible, while emphasizing the importance of thorough diagnostic evaluations and long-term monitoring due to its characteristic histopathological features.

In the maxillofacial area, osteomyelitis generally involves the mandible more commonly than the maxilla. Osteomyelitis of the mandible more often than not is odontogenic in origin and the dentate part is usually affected. In this context, involvement of the condyle and coronoid processes is very rare.

Background: An increasing number of adult patients are seeking orthodontic treatment to improve their dental appearance. However, special attention must be given to the periodontal status of the adults as periodontal disease and its sequel, such as pathologic migration of anterior teeth, result in esthetic and functional problems. In such adult patients, an interdisciplinary approach often offers the best option for achieving a predictable outcome to solve complex clinical problems.
