Background: In this article, we discuss a new technique of pectoralis major muscle volumization using ultrasound-guided fat grafting, considering a new surgical criterion that allows for larger volumes.
Methods: We present a retrospective observational descriptive study, which included men who underwent body contouring surgery during 2022-2023. As part of the study, measurements were taken before, immediately after, and at 3 months after surgery.

Background: As Compassionate Communities (CCs) are developing worldwide, there is a growing need to systematically assess if they are having the expected effects on the community. Although having a single strategy would be ideal in terms of standardization and comparison, due to the inherent heterogeneity of CCs, it is not known how feasible this would be.
Objectives: To assess the feasibility of creating a general strategy, based on the results of a series of focus groups conducted across three diverse CCs, to guide the evaluation of already existing programs and the development of new ones.

Background: WEB shape modification has been analyzed in relation to the aneurysm occlusion outcome and techniques have been presented with one-dimensional measurements of the device to quantify the change after implantation. In this work, we present an analysis of pre-treatment vascular morphology and hemodynamics of cases treated with WEB devices, which were three-dimensionally quantified in morphology and position to detect modifications.
Methods: Seventeen WEB-treated aneurysms with pre-treatment, post-treatment and follow-up 3D flat-panel CT were included.

Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) cause significant human and economic costs globally. Each year, 17 million people die from an NCD before age 70. The burden of NCDs is associated with socioenvironmental, cultural factors and social behavior, including modifiable risk factors like tobacco use, unhealthy diets, physical inactivity and alcohol consumption.

In bee-pollinated plants with protandrous flowers in vertical acropetal inflorescences - where male fertile flower structures mature before female ones and basal flowers open first (i.e.

This study was performed to evaluate whether the MIC Test Strip (MTS) quantitative assay for determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) correlated with the CLSI reference broth microdilution method (BMD) for antifungal susceptibility testing of wild-type and non-wild-type Aspergillus species isolated from cystic fibrosis patients against antifungal agents known to be usually effective against Aspergillus spp. This study was performed to assist in the decision-making process for possible deployment of the MTS assay for antimicrobial susceptibility testing of Aspergillus species into regional public health laboratories of Mycology due to difficulties in equipping the reference BMD methods in a laboratory routine. For this purpose, a set of 40 phenotypically diverse isolates (27 wild-type, 9 non-wild-type, and 4 species with reduced susceptibility to azoles and amphotericin B (AMB)) collected from clinical samples were tested.

The specific pathogeneses of schizophrenia (SCZ) remain an enigma despite extensive research that has implicated both genetic and environmental factors. Recent revelations that dysregulated immune system caused by glial cell overactivation result in neuroinflammation, a key player in neurodegenerative as well as neuropsychiatric disorders including SCZ are providing novel clues on potential therapeutic interventions. Here, we review the roles of glial cells (Dr.

The mineral content, vitamin C, and chlorogenic acid were determined in 44 genotypes of Andean potatoes reintroduced in the Quebrada de Humahuaca, Jujuy, Argentina. This initiative aims to promote biodiversity and support local producers by determining the nutritional and functional properties of these genotypes. The genotypes from a collection in the Germplasm Bank of INTA Balcarce, were planted in sandy clay loam soils and harvested manually.

Gamma oscillations are disrupted in various neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease (AD). In AD mouse models, non-invasive audiovisual stimulation (AuViS) at 40 Hz enhances gamma oscillations, clears amyloid-beta, and improves cognition. We investigated mechanisms of circuit remodeling underlying these restorative effects by leveraging the sensitivity of hippocampal neurogenesis to activity in middle-aged wild-type mice.

Insight into their internal physics is best captured through nebular lines, but at these early epochs, the brightest of these spectral features are redshifted into the mid-infrared and remain elusive. Using the mid-infrared instrument onboard the James Webb Space Telescope, here we present a detection of Hα and doubly ionized oxygen ([O iii] 4959,5007 Å) from the bright, ultra-high-redshift galaxy candidate GHZ2/GLASS-z12.

A critical challenge in ecological restoration of open-pit mine dumps in cold regions with limited topsoil resources is how to rapidly mitigate the plant growth-inhibitory effects of mineral black clay, thereby converting it into arable soil. Leveraging the high degradation capacity of coal seam-associated microorganisms on fossil carbon materials, combined with soil conditioning techniques, this study developed a microbial-based approach for modifying black clay. Seed germination experiments informed both laboratory and field trial designs.

Prokaryotic heme biosynthesis in Gram-positive bacteria follows the coproporphyrin-dependent heme biosynthesis pathway. The last step in this pathway is catalyzed by the enzyme coproheme decarboxylase, which oxidatively transforms two propionate groups into vinyl groups yielding heme b. The catalytic reaction cycle of coproheme decarboxylases exhibits four different states: the apo-form, the substrate (coproheme)-bound form, a transient three-propionate intermediate form (monovinyl, monopropionate deuteroheme; MMD), and the product (heme b)-bound form.

Kisspeptin (KISS1), originally catalogued as metastin because of its capacity as a metastasis suppressor in human melanoma and breast cancer, is now recognized as the major puberty gatekeeper and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neuroendocrine system modulator. It is a member of the family of RFamide-related peptides that also includes the neuropeptide FF group, the gonadotropin-inhibitory hormone, the prolactin-releasing peptide, and the 26RFa peptides. The KISS1 precursor peptide is processed into a family of peptides known as kisspeptins.

Light is the most reliable environmental cue allowing animals to breed successfully when conditions are optimal. In seasonal breeders, photoperiod (length of daylight) information is sensed by the eyes and transmitted to the suprachiasmatic nucleus, the master clock region located in the hypothalamus. This structure has a 24-h firing rhythm involving a cycle of clock protein synthesis and degradation, and provides the timing to synchronize the synthesis and release of melatonin, the chemical signal that transduces the photoperiod information.
