Introduction: Our study aimed to identify relevant features associated with the reprisal of antineoplastic treatment in patients with solid cancers after unplanned admittance to the intensive care unit (ICU) and to assess 60th-month survival in patients with solid neoplasms admitted to the ICU.
Methods: This single-centre retrospective study of critically ill patients with active cancers was performed over a 13-year period (2005-2018). Patients' characteristics, overall survival, and antineoplastic treatment reprisal were extracted from digital medical files and compared.

Beta-lactamases are frequently prescribed for Gram-negative bloodstream infections (BSIs). However, chromosomally encoded AmpC-producing (AE) could overproduce beta-lactamases when exposed to third-generation cephalosporins (3GCs), with a risk of clinical failure. There are few available in vivo data on the subject.

Background: Aspirational targets to end AIDS by 2030 include having 95% of people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV; PWH) diagnosed, 95% treated, and 95% with controlled viral load (VL). Our objective was to describe, using a large French prospective cohort, the median transition times through the cascade of care between 2009 and 2019.
Methods: We analyzed patients whose first HIV diagnosis was made between 1 January 2009 and 31 December 2019.

Background And Aims: To report 5-year outcomes of the CERTITUDE study.
Methods: An observational study in patients with liver transplantation (LTx) compared the long-term impact of immunosuppression (with/without a calcineurin inhibitor) on renal function, cancers, major cardiovascular events (MACEs) and other safety parameters. All patients completing the 6-month SIMCER study were recruited and analysed according to treatment received at randomization and actual treatment received during the follow-up.
Antibiotics (Basel)
July 2022
Infectious Disease Department, Archet Hospital, Nice University Hospital, 06200 Nice, France.
The development of broad-spectrum antibiotics to control multidrug-resistant bacteria is an outdated business model. This strategy has led to the introduction of highly effective antibiotics, but their widespread use has contributed to the emergence of even broader antibiotic resistance. In a strategy to combat antimicrobial resistance, we believe that the use of narrow-spectrum antibiotics should be promoted.

Objective: Immunadapt is a study evaluating the impact of combination antiretroviral treatment (cART) simplification on immune activation. We previously showed that switching to dual therapies could be associated six months later with macrophage activation. Followup continued up to 24 months after treatment simplification.

Testing for the mutation is mandatory for the management of patients with locally advanced or metastatic melanoma. Molecular analysis based on DNA sequencing remains the gold-standard method for the screening of the different mutations. These methods must be rapid, sensitive, and specific enough to allow optimal therapeutic management in daily practice and also to include patients in clinical trials.

Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS), systemic sclerosis (SSc), idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are connective tissue diseases (CTD) whose complications can lead to management in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Objectives: To estimate by meta-analysis ICU mortality rates for CTD.
Methods: A systematic literature review was performed to identify articles studying critically ill CTD patients.

Introduction: The aim of our study was to compare clear liquid diet with 2 different polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based bowel preparation methods regarding diagnostic yield of small bowel capsule endoscopy (SBCE) in patients with suspected small bowel bleeding (SBB).
Methods: In this prospective multicenter randomized controlled trial, consecutive patients undergoing SBCE for suspected SBB between September 2010 and February 2016 were considered. Patients were randomly assigned to standard regimen, that is, clear fluids only (prep 1), standard regimen plus 500 mL PEG after SBCE ingestion (prep 2), or standard regimen plus 2 L PEG plus 500 mL PEG after SBCE ingestion (prep 3).

Background: The immunogenicity of a two-dose mRNA COVID-19 vaccine regimen is low in kidney transplant (KT) recipients. Here, we provide a thorough assessment of the immunogenicity of a three-dose COVID-19 vaccine regimen in this population.
Methods: We performed a prospective longitudinal study in sixty-one KT recipients given three doses of the BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccine.

Background: The frequency of acute kidney injury (AKI) can be as high as 50% in the intensive care unit (ICU). Despite the publication of national guidelines in France in 2015 for the use of RRT, there are no data describing the implementation of these recommendations in real-life.
Methods: We performed a nationwide survey of practices from November 15, 2019, to January 24, 2020, in France.

Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is a multidimensional concept including physical, emotional, social, and cognitive functions, disease symptoms, and side effects of treatment. Differences in HRQoL due to gender, existence of comorbidities, and number of chemotherapy cycles are little explored in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) survivors. Our objective was to investigate whether differences in HRQoL in function of these factors exist 1 year after the diagnosis of DLBCL.

Background: No study has focused on the economic burden in non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) survivors, even though this knowledge is essential. This study reports on health care resource use and associated health care costs as well as related factors in a series of 1671 French long-term NHL survivors.
Methods: Health care costs were measured from the payer perspective.

Background: Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in the visible or near-infrared spectrum have been reported to promote wound healing. However, despite being frequently proposed in daily clinical practice, the efficacy of photobiomodulation treatment after a laser procedure relies on very limited clinical data.
Objective: To compare the relative efficacy of LED versus placebo treatment in decreasing erythema and transepidermal water loss (TEWL) after a fractional CO session.

Purpose: Brainstem radionecrosis is an important issue during the irradiation of tumors of the posterior fossa. The aim of the present study is to analyze postsurgical geometrical variations of tumor bed (TB) and brainstem (BS) and their impact on dosimetry.
Methods: Retrospective collection of data from pediatric patients treated at a single institution.
Objectives: Sustained virological response (SVR) decreases the risk of hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related events. Nevertheless, a substantial risk of events persists. We estimated incidences and identified factors associated with severe clinical events after SVR following treatment with a direct-acting antiviral (DAA) in HIV/HCV-coinfected patients.
